Losing weight is one of the most difficult things for many people. Dr. Ian K. Smith Shows us that the biggest problem with being overweight is that people are not controlling their temptations.
As he puts it, “Tame Temptations, lose weight”.
Dr. Smith also adds that losing weight is also 80 percent mental and 20 percent physical. This is all in his latest book The 4 Day Diet.
He notes that to resist temptation your mind must lead you. Basically what he is saying is that you have to reprogram your brain. Just like if you stop anything else you have to tell your brain, no! The more you keep saying no the easier it will get. It’s a bit like smoking or drinking soda pop…whatever your biggest thing is that you want to give up, you just have to say no and keep resisting it. Eventually the desire will go away.
First of all you have to believe in your mind that it is possible for you to do this. And it is. I know every time I’ve dieted I go for awhile without certain foods and I don’t really want them anymore. But once I start, the cravings come back. It is actually possible to do this.
I’m not insinuating that anyone should lose too much weight, but try to tell yourself that food is not that important to you. Keep saying it to yourself. Make sure you eat though when you get hungry, just don’t indulge and don’t eat unhealthy foods.
The next thing for the 4 day diet is visualizing yourself with the bad consequences and then the good ones. Can you imagine being totally healthy one day (you think) and the next day you pass out and find out you have diabetes. What if you go to the doctor and your blood pressure is high. Worse what if the Doctor tells you that you have a blockage and you have to have open heart surgery. The 4 day diet is also about visualizing these things.
Now try visualizing yourself thin and wearing something form fitting that you look really good in. The 4 day diet also insinuates that you need to visualize looking good too. So picture yourself in outfits you see in magazines. Cut them out if you want. Go ahead and buy a dress or some jeans that you are going to promise yourself that you will fit into. Visualize yourself wearing them.
I don’t like to weigh myself, so I just try things on and I’m always happy when I reach a goal for a pair of jeans and I try them on and they are actually a bit loose! The whole time I am visualizing myself in them, so I know this 4 day diet plan will work for me!
How about you? Are you ready to take the plunge. Here is a good website that goes deeper into it below.
Some of my own experience correlated well with this 4 day diet plan.
