There are many commercial facial toners on the market. These facial toners vary greatly n price but most of them promise to cleanse skin, fight acne, tighten skin and refresh it. Some of these toners also promise to give skin a healthy glow.
The advertising for these toners leaves out many important pieces of information because most commercial toners contain harsh ingredients and toxins that can irritate skin and sometimes make acne worse. Some of these toners also contain ingredients that inhibit skin’s natural oils robbing skin of its natural healthy glow and leaving it looking dull.
I formulated the following recipe for facial toner using natural ingredients that will gently cleanse dirt, oil and toxins from your skin. The facial toner will also help tone and tighten skin, leaving it glowing and looking healthy.
You will need the following containers and implements to make this facial toner recipe: one medium sized mixing bowl capable of holding three cups of liquid; measuring cup; small bottle (with a cap) capable of holding 18 ounces of liquid; one funnel; one tablespoon and either a manual or an automatic juicer.
The following ingredients are needed to make this facial toner recipe: one and three quarters of one cup (14 ounces) of Saki Japanese rice wine; one small lemon and one small orange
Begin making this recipe by pouring 14 ounces of Saki Japanese rice wine into the mixing bowl. The Saki in this facial toner recipe will help detoxify your skin because the rice naturally pulls dirt and impurities from your skin. Legend has it that Japanese geishas have long use Saki as a beauty remedy; they reportedly bathe in the wine to maintain their legendary radiant beauty. The Saki in this facial toner will also give your skin a radiant and healthy glow.
After completing the first step, use either a manual or an electric juicer to squeeze the juice from one small lemon. If you do not have a juicer, you can slice the lemon and squeeze the juice from each slice. Strain out any pulp or seeds that made their way into the juice and then add one ounce of the juice to the mixing bowl. The lemon juice will boost the cleansing power of the facial toner because lemon juice is naturally astringent. It also has vitamin C, which will give your skin a healthy glow.
Repeat the squeezing process that you used with the lemon with one small orange. Strain any seeds or pulp from the orange juice and add one ounce of it to the facial toner blend in the mixing bowl. The orange juice is naturally high in vitamin C. The ascorbic acid in the juice will help cleanse your skin and leave it glowing.
After adding all of the ingredients to the facial toner blend, stir it until the blend is uniform. Next, funnel the finished facial toner into the small bottle and screw the cap on tightly. Store the toner in the refrigerator when not in use.
Use the toner in the morning and in the evening after cleansing your face but before you moisturize it. You will most likely be surprised at the amount of dirt and debris the toner will remove from your skin even after you have cleansed it. You can also use the toner in the afternoon for a refreshing pick-me-up.
Be sure to use a lot of sunscreen on your face after using the facial toner. The toner has a very high vitamin C content, which will make your skin ultra-sensitive to sunlight.
Preparing the facial toner recipe with the stated proportions will yield about two cups. You can store the finished facial toner in the sealed bottle in the refrigerator for one week.
Use Caution! Many natural ingredients can cause allergic reactions in people that use them. Avoid any ingredients that you know you are allergic to and discontinue using any formulations that cause skin irritation, hives or other signs of an allergic reaction.
