Red, orange and yellow- the warmest and most elegant colors of nature brought to us by the season of fall or autumn (technically speaking). The season comes filled with festivals, food and fun. Its short yet there’s so much you can do in this little time before the cold attacks. Now how do we make the most of a season so beautiful yet short-lived. If you ask me I would say the best way to enjoy natural beauty is to travel. There’s so much to take in and life is so short. If you have the travel bug in you, road trips around your town/city or may be to the surrounding states are perfect. You get to see the fall colors, enjoy the roadside food and since the weather is pleasant, it doesn’t wear you out. Pack your barbeque gear, hit the road and you can even stop over for your own barbeque break on the trip. If you are an artist, like photography, the beauty of fall is something you cannot miss. I am an avid photographer and try to capture the nature as much I can. These are a few places you can drive around to catch the changing colors- Charlottesville-Virginia, Milford-Pennsylvania, Hermann-Missouri, Glenwood Springs-Colorado, Alto- Georgia, Newfane- Vermont, Sevierville-Tennessee, The Smoky Mountains- North Carolina, The Ozark and Ouachita Mountain ranges in Arkansas and also Camden in Maine is a place worth going to. This fall, Smoky Mountain is on my wish list. This year, Smoky Mountains is on my wish list. I wouldn’t want to miss the abundance of beauty it has.
Now if you are not the ‘always-on-the-move’ kind of person, then weekend barbeques with friends, or cheering your favorite team with friends and family is quality time spending. For the ones who enjoy cooking (and eating) this is probably the best season to enjoy and be creative with all the different kinds of food you can lay your eyes on- pies, pot roast, casseroles, cakes, cookies, candies, you name it. For mothers, this is a great time to be creative with your kids and design their Halloween costumes. You can get make-it-yourself costume kits at all leading art and craft supplies stores. I usually go to places like Hobby Lobby, Jo-Ann, Michael’s etc and grab a few supplies and spend a weekend or two with my sister-in-law’s kids. They enjoy doing their own costume. It’s a good learning process for your kid, enhances their creativity and at the same time lets you keep yourself busy constructively. And what’s better than to celebrate festivals amidst such rich natural beauty? Family and friends together enjoying the festivities in a season that is filled with colors, richness and goodness, is all you can ask for from life. So go ahead, plan or don’t plan- just go out, bask in the glory of Mother Nature and let yourself soak in all the fun and enjoyment of fall.
