This is one of those tricks that is extremely easy, needs a little practice, and will fascinate and thrill every person that is watching. In this trick, a random card that the audience member has chosen will magically flip inside the deck. This trick works best with cards that have a white border surrounding them, like Hoyle or Bicycle brand cards
This trick will need some set up ahead of time and a few minutes of practice. Whenever you’re practicing magic of any sort it is always a good idea to practice in front of a mirror. By doing this, you see exactly what your observer or audience is seeing. Fan out the cards upside down in front of you and ask someone to pick a card. Allow them to pick a card, and ask them to show everyone the card and remember it.
Turn around with your back to the audience, and explain you really want everyone to see the card and you really don’t want to see anything. As you are turning, and as soon as you are 1/2 turned, but your deck is out of sight of the audience, turn the deck upside down. With your back tot he audience, take the top card and flip it over. Now your deck looks like it is right side up. If you want to continue the illusion, turn the bottom card upside down as well, so that it fully looks like a correctly set up deck. Hold the deck behind your back, or in front of your audience, and explain because you really don’t want to see where the card is being put in. After the person puts the card in the deck, turn back around. As you are turning back around flip the top card and the deck back over. The more you practice the move the better you will get at it. Do not do this for the first time in front of an audience, or it will be very obvious what has just happened
Now place the deck in front of you. You can have as much fund as you want at this step. You can create some sort of incantation. You can ask your audience to knock three times. the opportunities are endless. The more theatrics you put into t his part, the more fun this trick becomes for the audience,a nd the more amazing they believe it is.
Now explain that you will cause the card that the people choose to actually flip in the deck. Another variation is that, you tell them you will now find their card. Put your hand on top of the deck and slide them out onto the surface. As they fan out onto he surface their card will be alarmingly visible. There will be a fan of upside down cards, and their card will be upside right. When done right, this is is a jaw dropping, mouth watering, and entertaining trick.
The last part of this trick is important, but is often left out. The importance of this step adds the oddity of the trick. Ask your audience how it happened. If you can play with your words correctly, and keep a poker face, this will add validity to your magic powers.
