If you grew up in the 70’s, you were part of the first generation of Hello Kitty fans. Now that we’re older and many of us have children, we want to pass the love this cartoon cat on to our daughters. And what better way to do this than to have a Hello Kitty theme birthday party for our little girls?
Luckily, Hello Kitty is one of the most popular cartoon characters in the last 30 years, so finding related merchandise is quite easy. Here’s a breakdown of some of the things you’ll need and want for your Hello Kitty theme birthday party.
Hello Kitty Theme Birthday Party: Invitations
I’ve seen Hello Kitty invitations at places like Party City and Target. Usually, you get about 8-10 cards and envelops for $4. You’re other option would be to print your own Hello Kitty invitations. I found these and they’re quite cute with great colors. Print them on sturdy paper.
Hello Kitty Theme Birthday Party: Party supplies
The website birthdayexpress.com sells a Hello Kitty Deluxe Party kit for $34, which includes plates, plasticware, napkins, cups, balloons, favors, table cover, centerpiece, invitations, and candles. Serves 8 guests. Or you can buy individual items at Party City where individual supplies are also sold in packs of 8.
Hello Kitty Theme Birthday Party: Games and activities
To keep party guests occupied, print out some free coloring pages like these and maybe award a prize for the neatest picture. If the weather is nice, you can also set up a Hello Kitty piñata and fill with candies and small toys. Piñata costs $18 at Party City.
Hello Kitty Theme Birthday Party: Cake or cupcakes
Most grocery stores have a bakery that can decorate a cake with various cartoon characters, including Hello Kitty. You can also try the bakeries at Sam’s Club or Costco. I’ve had cakes from both and have been very impressed with taste and price. You can also decorate your own homemade cake or cupcakes with Hello Kitty cake decorations that can be found and craft stores like AC Moore and Michaels.
Hello Kitty Theme Birthday Party: Goody bag
What’s a birthday party without a goody bag? You can buy Hello Kitty loot bags at craft and party stores or Target for $2-3 and fill ’em up. Party City has tons of Hello Kitty favors and small toys like bubble necklaces, lip gloss, stickers and pencils. Or instead of a bag of small items, one large item. Target sells Hello Kitty beanie plush toys for $7.
