Idaho’s wine industry is currently quite small. The production tends to be state specific and you will probably have to plan a visit to the area to truly enjoy the wine they are producing. However some are attainable via mail order. The state is struggling, however, to make a name for itself in the wine industry and is efforts should not be overlooked. Here is a list of five wineries that are producing quality wines in the area.
1) Camas Prairie Winery located at 110 South Main Street, Moscow, ID 83843
This is one of the few wineries in the Panhandle region of Idaho. This winery was established in 1983 and is an independently owned establishment. They have a wine loft tasting room where you can try their many varieties of wine. They also run a brisk mail order business where you can specifically order their wines over the Internet.
They have a some wonderful Chardonnay that retails for only $13.50 plus a wide variety of different wines that are worth trying.

2) 3 Horse Ranch Vineyards located at 5900 Pearl Road Eagle, ID 83616
3 Horse Ranch Vineyards is an organic wine producer. They are located in the southern part of Idaho. Currently they have a tasting room and they welcome visitors.
They produce several quality wines that are available on their website for mail order.
One must try variety is their 2008 Estate Grown Roussanne which is a very nice rich fruity wine with a smooth finish. It is available for only $22 per bottle.

3) Sawtooth Winery located at 13750 Surrey Lane, Nampa, ID 83686

4) Bitner Winery located at 16645 Plum Road, Caldwell, ID 83607
This is a family owned and operated winery that specializes solely in Chardonnay and Cabernet Savignon. They have been producing superior quality wine for over thirty years. They welcome visitors with open arms.
Their Late Harvest Riesling is smooth with a fine finish. It retails for a very reasonable $22 per bottle. They also have a wonderful Merlot Petit Verdot that is outstanding. It retails for $18 per bottle.
They opened a very nice Bed and Breakfast on the grounds of their vineyards August 1st. This promises to make it a wonderful weekend trip for anyone looking to get away to a picturesque area and sample some wonderful wines.

5) Williamsons Orchards and Vineyards located at 19692 Williamson Ln, Caldwell, ID 83607
This is a family owned and operated facility that offers wonderful hospitality and guests are met with open arms. They not only produce quality wines but there is also a fruit stand to enjoy the wonderful fruits they produce. Also offered at their retail store is their home processed apple cider which is excellent.
Their wines are outstanding. They have a must try 2007 Late Harvest Viognier dessert wine that is very tasty and would complete any dessert or simply as an after dinner sipping wine.

Although, Idaho is a small producer when it comes to wines and the vineyards are widely spaced it still produces quality products and should not be overlooked.
