A disco inspired party will bring your guests right back to the seventies. Most people will love the nostalgia of the theme. It’s an excellent way to keep your guests dancing, having, fun, and everyone will leave with great memories and pictures. Many party planners can help you throw your bash, but if you want to try and do it yourself it’s easy. If you want to throw the party here’s what you need to know…..
Invites: You can go with a generic invite or get creative. Maybe you can send your guests a homemade music cd of all disco music with all the party info printed on the cd insert. There are many online companies that will print up invites at very low costs as well. So you can design it yourself and have it printed up. Maybe add some glitter and confetti to the envelopes to get your guests into the theme.
Attire: Have your guests dress in cocktail classic outfits from the seventies, bell bottoms, big hair, and unbuttoned shirts with big collars. For some people on your guest list all it might take is some rummaging through the attic. Your guests will love seeing how everyone dresses the night of the party. The look of your guests will add to the overall theme for the night. Your dress code should be noted on the invites so your guests know ahead of time. Maybe have some easy to throw on clothes and some fake moustaches for the guests that forget to dress the part.
Food: Keep it simple. The better you prepare ahead of time, the more you can enjoy your party the night of. Set snack bowls around with chips, pretzels, and dip. Then when it comes time for dinner, prepare food ahead of time that only needs to be warmed the night of. A salad is a good idea to have just in case some of your guests are vegetarians. If you will be drinking at your party, classic cocktails will add to the ambiance. Make your guests feel as if they are right back in the seventies.
Décor: This is an easy theme to decorate any space with. Many chain party stores have generic decorations for a seventies themed party. Think “Saturday Night Fever” when picking out your decorations. Use a lot of glittery decorations, and you can’t forget about the disco ball. Use your imagination and even your creative skills to make decorations yourself. Lost cost strobe lights, and color changing lights will add to the dancing disco theme.
Music: This is a key component to your party. The seventies revolved around the music of the decade. Most DJ companies will be more than willing to accommodate the music to match the theme of the party. They might even have the lighting to go with it. It is important to not skimp on this part of your party planning.
With everything in place, and the planning well thought out your party could turn out to be the talk of the town….and maybe even take you back in time.
