If you do not have the money to buy a lot of ornaments and decorations for your house this Christmas try some of these simple ideas. There is plenty of stuff that you could use that is already floating around the house. If you do have smaller children they will just love helping you out with a lot of these projects. Here are some things to make that will sprucing up your house for Christmas.
Take 2 paper plates and staple them together. Go outside and get some brown leaves off the ground and glue them to the edges of the plates. You could also glue or staple some garland if you have it too. Let the children just go wild with their creations. Color the centers of them or whatever they want. Also, to decorate the wreaths glue peppermint discs, mini candy canes, or cranberries to it.
Parents you may want to help with this one. Take construction paper, newspaper, or any kind of paper and cut out stars. You can use whatever shape you prefer. Have the child put glue on the cut out shape and sprinkle some glitter on the shape. If you have no glitter try cutting the tips off of some Q-tips and applying them. Make a hole on the tip of the star and put some string through and voila! Your kids will love it.
If you want to make a little something to decorate the house or your child’s room with is, a playful reindeer. These are thing items you will need…11/2 toilet paper roll, 3 pretzel sticks, a square of toilet paper, some markers and/or crayons, 4 unsharpened pencils, and scissors. The full t.p. roll will be the reindeer body. Cut 1 little at the end of the full roll and put a pretzel stick in there. Next, take the ½ roll and cut a hole in the end so you can stick that same pretzel through so that it looks as if you put on the head. Cut 2 holes on top of the head for the other pretzels to go in. These will be the antlers on the reindeer. Make 4 holes on the bottom of the full roll to put the pencils in which are the legs. Be sure that the holes are equally apart. When you are finished doing that take that actual t.p. and glue it to it’s rear end for a tail. That is all the building you have to do, let the kids color and draw the face however they want.
It really does not take a lot of money to buy the most precious items. I, myself would prefer to have something homemade from my children. This also gives you some bonding time to spend with the kids this Christmas.
