The T-mobile Dash 3G, an upgrade to the T-mobile Dash, is a great addition to the HTC Snap Family. It is an all black phone with white and red numbers and letters on its pleasant looking QWERTY keyboard. It is extremely slim and has a trackball for navigation. This phone has great call quality and allows you to turn on the speaker phone by holding down the green call button. It allows you to run many different applications at the same time. You can talk on the phone while browsing the web or take a picture to send to your friend who you are conversing with.
Because it is a Microsoft mobile, this phone allows you to connect to your hotmail or msn account easily from the home screen. You can also check your text messages, the weather, your favorite Web sites, voicemail and missed calls all from the main screen as well as play music. By clicking start, you will be able to view your different applications which include a task manager, Wi-Fi and device manager. Other basic applications are included such as album, camera, video recorder and games. You can also watch youtube videos by clicking on the Youtube application.
The Dash comes with a Comm Manager which allows you to set the phone to airplane mode as well as turn Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on or off. This is also where you turn on your data connection.
Something that this phone has which cannot be found in many other phones is the ability to share internet with a computer or laptop. If you have a data plan, all you have to do is connect your USB cord from the phone to the computer. Then, go to device manager, click on internet sharing and click connect. It is that simple. There is nothing to download and it is a free service that comes with the phone. What does this mean for you? It means that you may not need to purchase internet for your home if you have this phone. You can simply just connect your phone to the internet and use the web which your phone charges right on your computer.
Another great thing about this phone is its GPS service which can be found under Google Maps. This could replace the need to buy a portable GPS. Google Maps has also been upgraded so you may not even need to utilize the GPS to be able to find your directions. You could also download QuickGPS right from the application on the start menu.
Although the internet on the Dash is great and quick, the design may get a bit annoying. There is no web address bar present initially. In order to be able to type in a web address, you would have to click on menu from the internet application then click on the link to go to web address. To make it easier, you may need to add your favorite websites to your favorites so you can access them easily from the main screen or from the favorites tab on the internet’s menu.
If you have previously had a touch screen, you may find this phone annoying since it does not have a touch screen. However, the great services it provides such as internet sharing may be worth it. It may take a while to get used to if you are not familiar with Smartphones but once you do, you will love it.
