It’s Hard to Change Your Life with Your Eyes Closed

by sawpan

I have taken some great pictures in life, because my eyes were open at the right time and I saw the opportunity. If I had looked an hour earlier or an hour later, the opportunity would not have been there. What is the lesson? Keep your eyes open. If you are not watching, you will miss seeing things that can reinvent you at a moments notice. What about those who have lost their sight? Have you ever talked to them? Every blind person I know has learned to see in a far more intense way than any sight enabled person. Seeing opportunities is only partially about physical sight. Seeing opportunities is opening up your mind to them.

There has been much conversation about what sunsets do to people who see them. Sometimes it gives them an inner peace. Sometimes it reminds them of a bigger God. Sometimes their problems seem small compared to the problems out there in the big world. Sometimes it provides a piece of art which reminds them of fun memories watching the sunset with someone else. For artists, it inspires their own creativity. For writers, the pen begins to flow again. For musicians, the song just seems to write its own melody line. Some look at goals for the future, realizing that the sunset on their own life could come at any time.

The brevity of this moment is what launches many people. They are reminded that some things in life only come once, and you can either choose to take it in or miss it. The chance to take the picture is now, not in an hour and not tomorrow. Action is needed immediately! It is about taking that first step. For some, it is the inspiration to climb that mountain, either a real mountain, or one of life’s challenges.

Today, open your eyes. Reinvention is about keeping your mind and eyes open to see where you are going. Reinvention is about looking to the right and to the left, and making decisions about what to take with you and what to leave behind.

Close your eyes for a moment. It bothers you, doesn’t it? You may be a peace for a moment, but then you feel a little lost and wonder what is really going on around you. It can be like that with reinvention, if your eyes are not open to new opportunities. But, you say, what about the blind person? Talk to them. Many would say that Helen Keller could see better than most people with sight. I have a friend who is blind, and she uses every other sense she has to do what I’m challenging you to do. She has a clear goal for her life, she faces challenges, she looks for opportunities, she acts on opportunities, and she takes steps forward with confidence.

Many of you know that opening your eyes does not just refer to the 2 little balls on your head. Opening your eyes is symbolic of opening your mind and heart to all that is around you, and then praying to God for wisdom as you choose your next step. Don’t miss what God wants to show you in life today Keep your eyes open, then act quickly!
