JJ Madison’s is the new name for the established local East Mesa hang-out formerly known as Famous Sams. Under a new banner with a fresh new appearance as of mid-October 2009, JJ Madison’s comes to you with a brand new line-up of great food, beverages, and daily specials that are sure to please!
For those who already know the area and consider this place one of their local stomping grounds, rest assured that all of the major attractions you knew before are still here, along with the same friendly staff and servers you’ve grown to love.
I can honestly say that the food here is really good, and the menu has improved since it was known as Famous Sams. The most recent lunch/dinner dish that I had there was a special type of hamburger that had cheese and bacon on the inside of the meat rather than on top of it. It was so good that I decided to get a second one to take home!
Also, the fries are really good. They have a different variety of food even for you french fry buffs – sweet potato fries…although I myself am not usually a fan of sweet potato at all, I did enjoy eating these. They taste somewhere between eating a curly fry from arby’s and a slightly baked potato. Try it, you’ll probably like it too, even if you don’t normally like sweet potato!
As for the line-up of activities, there are plenty. From pool tables and tournaments to dart boards, shuffle-board, and a whole bunch of other fun things…here’s what is going on weekly at JJ Madison’s:
Every Tuesday night, JJ’s has a fantastic karaoke show hosted by Sarah Hodge. Whether you are a seasoned veteran when it comes to singing karaoke, or you just want to get your feet wet in a friendly and easy-going atmosphere that is supportive of new singers as well as the mainstays…please feel free to give it a try and enjoy the night. Stop on by anytime from 9:30pm until 1:00am, and sing until your heart is content. Sarah is always very sweet and thoughtful – there are times that she has been known to stay just a little bit later than usual just for people to get their songs in and finish out the night happily.
Beautiful and even a great singer too, Sarah definitely goes out of her way to make sure people enjoy the night. For those of you who would like to see a music video or two by request, Sarah will be more than happy to put one of those in for you too, inbetween the karaoke show. If you plan to sing, then be sure to get there just a little bit earlier than 9:30pm if possible, so you can beat the rush of singers that may be there on certain nights!
Wednesday night is ladies night at JJ Madison’s! Every wednesday, you will find Video Vinnie sporting a vast array of dance music videos that are fun to listen to and shake your tail-feather at! Drink specials for female friends are extremely affordable starting as low as $1. Just about anything you want to hear is usually available by request (and if the VJ doesn’t have it yet, he’ll find a way to get it for you soon). Single guys, you know this is where you want to be if you’re into the ladies! Especially if you like to dance or meet a few chill single peeps. And single ladies? if you’re looking to meet a few fun guys or maybe just one that tickles your fancy, then this is the time and the place for you in addition to the night of best priced drinks in town for you to enjoy.
Thursdays are Texas Hold’em nights at JJ Madisons. Honestly, I’m not much of a card shark anymore! So I can’t really say what they play for or what their groups are like. But of course, you can always go and meet the players, the teams, and discover first hand what they win, how often they play, how long the games last, and of course, whether you want to join in or just hang out and watch the show.
Friday NIghts are for all you trivia buffs out there who want to test your knowledge of music and the old-school days! There are prizes to be won by the best table and the most knowledgeable players. Enjoy free drinks, prizes, and more if you win against the competition! There are a few music videos for folks between the festivities, too.
On Saturday nights stop in for a cool drink, a great dinner, and some music from a live band familiar to the locals of East Mesa. If you have any special requests, feel free to pull a band member aside, and they just might play a song for you!
Sunday nights are just mellow, good-time nights for you to stop by and hang out. If you just want a chill night to relax where nothing but the jukebox may be playing (or maybe you just want to get to know the beautiful bartender Wendi, or perhaps the cool bartenders Derek, Brandon, or Dan)…then by all means, stop on in and see some friens.
For the people who need to have a cigarette every now and then, there is of course an outside patio where you can smoke if you need to and shoot the breeze with others in a little quieter place.
There is always something here for you going on every night at the all new JJ Madison’s. Sometimes you’ll see new faces, while other times you’ll be sure to meet your friends and acquaintances from before. Regardless what you like best about JJ’s and decide to come here for, JJ Madison’s is an inviting restaurant and lounge with great food, nice drink specials, and an interesting array of people that won’t let you down.
