With the economy in such a challenge these days, and with people having so many choices before them, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. It would be so easy to fault others for our short tempers – it’s because of the rising cost of fuel, the high cost of groceries and electricity and natural gas and water services. It’s because of all the cutbacks at work – the budget crisis – the war in Iraq – the earthquakes, cyclones, tornadoes, floods, and fires, the threat of global warming.
“These things are what make me crazy.”
Yes, it would be easy to say that. Blame someone else. Even God.
But where’s the solution in that? Does blaming others really make us feel better? It salves the conscience only for a little while, but does no good for the heart at all. Why? Because somewhere deep down, we KNOW these things are not to blame for our feelings of helplessness. A criticism? Not really. Deep down, everyone knows there is something more, something greater than what they are experiencing.
It is not God’s will that anyone suffer. The things going on in the world today are man-made – that is, they are the results of actions – decisions, behaviors, and the thinking – of human beings.
What is the purpose behind all of it? In some way it is to help us raise our visions above and beyond the experiences around us. We MUST raise our vision to a point higher than our own misery. Otherwise, we will never see the Light shining on the path before us – a path towards a better way.
Does that mean, if I look up, I’ll see a magnificent light shining and walk toward it and all my worries are over?
It means – HOPE.
People have to have hope and hope is something that dwells within us – it cannot die. But it can be buried and ignored.
Unless we allow Hope to move to the top of our awareness, our Faith will have a hard time being expressed. “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” – Hebrews 11:1, KJV
Hope is the vehicle on which Faith travels, moving out from us into our world. Faith knows that – somehow – some way – somewhere – Good will prevail. Needs will be met. Hearts will be healed. Lives will be restored.
The tragedies befalling the world offer us the chance to reach out to our fellow humans to offer support, encouragement, Hope, and Faith. Through these experiences, we grow. If we make the decision to look for Good everywhere we go, then we will become more aware of the Blessings that exist around us, even in trying times.
Whatever challenges you may be going through – Keep the Faith – Keep Hope alive in your heart. Never let go (of Hope or Faith), never give up. For at the place you least suspect, Grace will appear and Blessings will flow. ALLOW them to come into your life. Allow your Life to be a vehicle of Blessings and Grace. Turn your attention away from despair and toward the Light of Spirit that will Bless and Heal your Life, starting today!
Harriet Beecher Stowe said, “When you get into a tight place and everything goes against you, till it seems as though you could not hang on a minute longer, never give up then, for it is just the place and time that the tide will turn.”
Hold fast to these words – they will encourage you when you want to give in. At no cost should you give in! You can be a victor in Life! Deny being a victim! Victims never win! Nothing good ever happens to a victim! But to the Victor – ah, yes! Victory! What does that mean? It means, if you will hold fast to your Hope and Faith – remain steadfast in your Belief that God has a plan for your life – and keep moving FORWARD – you will become the victor in your life!
Say YES! to Spirit’s Blessing to you now!
Say YES! to God’s Favor flowing over you now!
Say YES! to the Opportunities unfolding before you now!
Say YES! to Faith and know you will be Healed!
Say YES! to the chance of being reborn (rejuvenated, given New Hope) into an Awareness of all the GOOD in the world!
Do what you can to assist those in need – starting with yourself and your family. Be an example of Strength, Compassion, Faith, Hope, and Love. Raise your voice, your vision, your values and hold them up to the Light and you will soon realize the reward of victory. Take heart and be of good cheer! Worry not that the day comes – you are here to learn and grow and move through this life – one day at a time – learning all that you can for the benefit of your soul.
When fear and worry weigh you down – GET UP out of your chair – WASH YOUR FACE – put on your shoes – go out into the day and FIND SOMEONE TO HELP! GET OUT of your own head. Take your focus off yourself and put it on someone else. You will soon find someone with greater challenges than you face. Help them. Learn from them. Encourage each other.
