The first thing my travel party noticed when we entered Ludwig’s was that the décor is so authentically German it feels as if the group has been transported across the seas to the country of Germany itself. A large fireplace sits in one area while the tables are of heavy old forest wood. The waitpersons are dressed in authentic garb adding a final touch to this rustic German restaurant.

My group enjoyed Wiener Schnitzel (Veal), Jagerschnitzel and King Ludwig’s Duckling. Many restaurants serve duckling but having tried it in several places while on vacation trips I was truly impressed with how good King Ludwig’s Duckling truly was. This succulent duckling was prepared with a soft tasting semi-sweet plum sauce, bringing the flavor out that was not too strong but just enough to make the duckling delicious. The Wiener Schnitzel and Jagerschnitzel were prepared as if we were in an authentic German home.

Of course with our meal we enjoyed a German style beer, which I must admit my hubby ordered, as I know very little about beer. It was a strong robust flavored beer and was quite palatable with the dinner.

Other items on the menu at King Ludwig’s are Chicken Schnitzel, Sauerbraten, Hungarian Gulyas (Goulash), and for the lighter appetite there is also Grilled Chicken Salad or a hearty German or King Ludwig’s hot sausage.

Menu prices range from $8.99 to $24.99 for dinner and lunch plates and there are group meals on the menu. These family meals are prepared for two guests or more per party and King Ludwig’s is famous for the King Ludwig’s Schweinshax’n. This meal includes many German specialties such as Pork hocks prepared Bavarian style and the famous Bavarian Potato Salad, Wine kraut and Rotkraut. Cost of this Schweinshax’n dinner is $21.99 per person. Your meal for two is $34.99 and includes a combination of German favorites, Schweine Schnitzel, sausages, and Winekraut Rotkraut you can choose the Bavarian Potato Salad or Red Potatoes.

No matter which meal your guests choose they will delight in the flavors and service provided at King Ludwig’s restaurant. Have a wonderful vacation in Leavenworth, Washington no matter which event, season or festival your travel arrangments include.
