Mercedes-Benz has always been the dominate player in the luxury car class.
And during the last few years, the company has taken on a more sporting
driving demeanor with styling to match.
The company’s AMG division offers some of the most exciting Mercedes
available including cars like the E63, SL63, C63, SLK55, and the CLK63
AMG Black Series.
Like myself, and undoubtedly many others, you have likely wanted to
drive these cars but obviously we are talking big dollars. What if you
could experience driving one of these exquisite cars at the track? Well,
now you can!
The Mercedes AMG Driving Academy, which was first started in
Affalterbach, Germany in 2007 is coming to the U.S. The program will
start at Lime Rock Park in Lime Rock, Connecticut from September 9th-15th.
Regarding the program, Mercedes U.S.A. states that it is, “an advanced
driver training program that allows enthusiasts, under the guidance of top
professional instructors, to experience the excitement of motorsports and
the track capabilities of Mercedes AMG vehicles.”
Other dates for the program are at the Palm Beach International Raceway
in West Palm Beach, Florida during September 22nd-27th and at the Mazda
Racewayin Laguna Seca in Monterey, California during November 7th-8th
One or two day driving programs are offered at $1,895 and $3,495 respectively.
Each program includes a dinner reception, track hospitality and (assuming you
do not put one of the AMG’s into a guardrail), an AMG Driving Academy
certificate. The prices do not include hotel or travel expenses.
Of note, drivers who attend the one-day program at the Mazda Raceway in
Laguna Seca from November 17th-20th will be among the first in the world
to drive the 2011 Mercedes SLS AMG. Who would not be jealous of those
lucky few who get this opportunity? This special program costs a bit more
at $2,295, but you also get a one-night stay at the Intercontinental Hotel in
Regarding the AMG Driving Academy, Mercedes is to be commended
for coming up with a way that enables drivers to experience the performance
of great AMG cars. Additionally, Mercedes will increase the sales of AMG
vehicles and gain long term customer loyalty in the process.
