The Lady Gaga “Bad Romance” video is hot. The Lady Gaga “Bad Romance” video is controversial. The Lady Gaga “Bad Romance” video is a very bizarre music video unlike none other. If you have thought you have seen it all with Lady Gaga, you obviously haven’t seen the Lady Gaga “Bad Romance” video.
Lady Gaga has been the center of controversy for some time. According to The Hollywood Gossip, pictures of Lady Gaga sparked rumors that she really was a he/she, or a hermaphrodite. If you look at the photos, you can see something that looks not-so-lady like between her legs. Is Lady Gaga a hermaphrodite? That controversy lives on for yet another day.
Then, Lady Gaga showed up to the VMA awards wearing a strange outfit. If you don’t believe me, check out the Huffington Post. Again, Lady Gaga hermaphrodite rumors re-surfaced online and she was the talk of the day. This of course was before the Lady Gaga “Bad Romance” video was released.
The Lady Gaga “Bad Romance” video shows the world that entertainers that know how to sing, dance, and shock the world are still around. Lady Gaga is the Michael Jackson and Madonna of the past, all rolled up into one singing, dancing, controversy machine. The Lady Gaga “Bad Romance” video is a 5 minute video that features a variety of scenes, including a scene where Lady Gaga emerges dressed in all white from coffins and dances in a “Thriller”-ish way.
The Wall Street Journal Blog points out that the Lady Gaga “Bad Romance” video “sort of haute couture meets “Where the Wild Things Are,” with boots, form-fitting white jumpsuits, a polar bear cape, and some sort of headgear that resembles a crown as re-imagined by Salvador Dali and H. R. Giger.”
I watched the Lady Gaga “Bad Romance” video, and it’s quite bizarre. The costumes that Lady Gaga wears when she emerges from the pod-like coffins with the dancers makes me scratch my head. Her costume choices and dance moves would make Michael Jackson proud. The world really hasn’t seen the same sort of choreography/costume/singing combo since decades ago.
Of course, there will be those that disagree with me. However, all the music videos that I have seen over the past couple of years haven’t really reached the level where I was impressed. Although I’m not really all that impressed with the actual song “Bad Romance” (I think “Poker Face” was a lot better), I am impressed with the costume choices and choreography.
