True Blood is a popular show on HBO that is in its second season. The show is about a waitress, Sookie Stackhouse, that has telepathic powers and the people and creatures in her life. The show has some pretty colorful characters, including fan favorite Layfayette Reynolds.
Fans of the books and the series were overjoyed that Layfayette was in the second season of True Blood because at the beginning of book two, Layfayette was the one found dead in the car.
Layfayette certainly adds a spice to the show that contributes to its popularity. That is why he is the perfect Halloween costume. You’d get to be dressing up from your favorite show and favorite character. Putting together a Layfayette costume would be very easy. This article will give you a few pointers.
Clothing: Layfayette wears both women’s and men’s clothes so I recommend wearing a woman’s top along with a pair of man’s pants. You don’t want to wear just any woman’s top though, Layfayette has a good fashion sense and love things that hug his lean body. Don’t buy a top that is going to be really loose on you; you want it to cling to your body. I recommend getting some type of a woman’s tank top or halter top and wearing that as the top part of your costume. Forever 21 has some great tanks that Layfayette would surely love. Some of my recommendations is the black and white Sandra Slub Printed Top for $13.80, Panel Splash Front Tank for $12.80 or the Animal Print Shirred Tank for $14.80.
For pants, try to go with a pair of skinny jeans. If you just have regular jeans that can work. Either have them in light or dark blue.
Makeup: Black eyeliner; apply it thick around your eyes to make them stand out. Also use black lip liner and apply it along the edges. Layfayette also wears eye shadow so use purple eye shadow to help complete your costume.
Hair & Headgear: While Layfayette wears hats in the show, you see him with a do rag more often then not. He is also bald so you can buy a bald cap from a costume store during the Halloween season or you can shave your head, though that is a little extreme for a costume.
You can buy do rags from A Do Rag 4 U.com in various colors and patterns. Several of the ones available are ones that Layfayette undoubtedly wear. Some of my picks are the Glittering Teal, Dark Plum or the Gold Paint on Blue do rag. Prices vary but most are under $10 dollars.

Shoes: Black boots, either work or combat style would go with the outfit quite nicely. Check at a store like Wal-mart, Target or a thrift store in your area to locate them. You can also ask family and friends if they have a pair that would fit you.
Jewelry: Layfayette does love his jewelry. Sometimes he wears several pieces and others he wears little to none. He usually always wears earrings so pick a small, classy looking pair. If you don’t have pierced ears, buy clip on earrings.
Halloween stores sell costume jewelry. Buy some silver chunky type necklaces to complete your costume. Layfayette has worn a cross in the show and you can buy one from Overstock.com for $30.49. You will need to buy your own chain.
Props: Get little vials, fill it up with water and red food coloring and carefully label it “V” so it will look like vampire blood. On True Blood, vampire blood is a popular drug. You can carry it in your hand or use string or clips to hook it onto the belt loop on your pants so you look like you’re ready to deal.
