One of the most exciting things about the dating life usually comes from meeting different types of people every time. The various quirks and personalities of each individual make the whole dating process always unique every time. Most of my dates are nice. Some are great and they are those that you wish never to see again. The worst ones are the ones who value material needs over those of the heart. There is nothing wrong for anyone wanting the material needs in life.It is only human nature to want more from our partners but there should always be a limit. The truth is one of the worst relationships anyone can be involved in is with someone who is a gold digger.Loving someone for their money is not loving someone at all.
The rising cost of living and the booming economies have seen most Asian countries boom with much wealth. The average salary of an individual has more than doubled in the last ten years.Unfortunately this has brought increasing demands of materialism. The reality is that more and more relationships are based on what we have in our pockets rather than what we have in our hearts. The things that matter most when it comes to choosing the right partners like love, compassion, trust and understanding are no longer as important as how wealthy the party is
One of my working colleagues went on a date with a lady. She was incredibly gorgeous and had the figure that would put most women to shame. For many.she would have been the ideal catch. She had multiple degrees and was working for one of the largest companies in the world. My colleague was a senior management executive who was not a bad catch either. He owed his own home and was driving a spanking new BMW. They both met for dinner in a posh restaurant that was the culinary favorite of many food buffs in Singapore.Yet within the first half hour,my colleague wanted to abandon the date. The lady was rude and extremely materialistic. She had even asked him how much was he earning monthly. She had ridiculed him for the choice of car he was driving. It was not good enough for her.Outlandish as it was,it was one of the worst dates that my colleague had been on.Unfortunately the gold diggers out there are growing in numbers. This is the sad state of the dating cycle nowadays.
Money is definitely not something to be taken for granted in this day and age.But for someone like me who is an aging romantic, the heart really matters most when it comes to choosing the one you want to spend the rest of your life with. For most people nowadays, that simple criteria when choosing their life partner no longer seems important.
