If you are a Lego collector and are in to the Ninja theme, there is a sub series that you may not be aware of. The Mini Hero Collection was a small but well done limited edition series of mini figure sets designed to add color and variety to larger sets. These weren’t a huge hit when they were first released and eventually the Lego World Shop reduced the price on them. When they were officially removed from production the prices on them started to increase at a steady pace.
All of the Lego Ninja Mini Hero sets come with plastic display stands and background cards. The stands are nicely done, have ample room and feature the Ninja logo etched into the plate. In most cases these figures never appeared in Lego sets so they are a tremendous addition to any Ninja or Castle scene. They were originally sold through the Lego World Shop for about five dollars per set; in the almost ten years since their introduction, their price has gone into the $50.00 range for each set. The sets were boxed in the Mini Hero Collection format comparable to those issued for the Star Wars, City and Rock Raider themes.
Lego Ninja Mini Hero Collection (3344)
9 Pieces – 1 Figure – 1 Display Stand
This remains one of the hardest sets to find in the Mini Heroes Collection series. This warrior is one of a kind; it has a black over-body piece of armor with textured side slats, rich red stenciling on the body and a gray helmet with white bull horn attachment. The only negative to this set is that there is a pistol as a weapon instead of a sword. The other two sets in this series have swords; that is something that is easily fixed by swapping out the pistol for a sword. You get the white plastic display stand as well as the background card; no one at Lego will disclose why this is a solo figure set instead of a three piece offering.

21 Pieces – 3 Figures – 3 Display Stands
If variety is what you are looking for when buying Ninja mini figures then the second set in this series will definitely appeal to you. There is one masked Ninja and two Samurai guards; all three have unique facial expression as well as torso pieces that are exclusive to the Ninja theme. All three have the same black sword as an accessory and can be posed a number of different ways. The background cards are optional but they do help to showcase the figure if you plan on having them in a collector case.
Lego Ninja Mini Hero Collection (3346)
22 Pieces – 3 Figures – 3 Display Stands
The Green Ninja figures are regarded as some of the rarest in Lego history. All three of the figures in this set have unique torso and facial detail. The Lego elements for the Green Ninja are the same, so are the wraps but even so, they are stunning pieces that will add a lot to any scene. The Shogun Warrior is done up in white and comes with a black helmet featuring silver horns. The swords for the figures are identical but because of the uniqueness of the Ninja, it is something you can overlook.
The average selling price for any of these sets is about fifty dollars but you can find them for less if you are willing to invest the time to search for them online. There are a lot of knock off sets, loose figures and misrepresented Mini Hero sets. Be sure to read the text entry and details of a listing as photos are not always 100% accurate. Online auction sites like eBay can be a great place to find rare collectibles like this but there are some resellers that are not always honest or upfront about the condition of a set or its value on a rating scale. If you are a Ninja collector and want to add some unique and well done figures to your collection, all three of these sets would be excellent choices.
