In celebrating 911 we have a choice. We can focus on the devastation of the Terrorists or we can focus on the everyday folks that became Patriot Heroes with out a uniform. We could focus on the hole in the New York skyline, the hole in the hearts of most Americans. We can focus on the folks that echo Todd Beamer’s last words “Let’s Roll!” The everyday folks that continue to trudge life’s journey, shoulders squared, head held high and still “Proud to be an American” no hyphen needed.
I think my tribute to these Heroes would best if it is positive. My Higher Power has shared this idea with me. The more difficult the challenge the more I know how strong He has made me. No one proclaimed this would be easy only that it will be worth the effort. My broken American heart will heal in time…without Hate…with Faith, Love, and Hope.
We have all heard the stories of the gal that stopped to buy donuts for the office in Tower number one, and was late to work. Can you imagine her life’s journey today? The gal that wore a new pair of shoes and needed to stop for a Band Aide to cover her blister…. and was late for work. Is her life’s journey any different today? What about the gal that stayed home from work to care for a sick child. Is her life’s journey more difficult today?
There is a field in Pennsylvania that has the scars of this day embedded in it’s heart. This was the result of Todd Beamer and a band of Patriot Heroes standing tall and taking part of our country back!. John Wayne would have said “Courage is being scared to death but saddling up anyway.” Clint Eastwood would slur “Go Ahead make my day!” Todd Beamer proclaimed the battle cry to the world… “Let’s Roll!” I know some Hollywood Producer will try to make a movie but that may take the power away from this quote. Perhaps I am wrong and it will cause the quote to grow in our American heart
I know “Nothing happens in God’s world by mistake!” I know that cooler heads will tell you in any devastation there is a blessing to be found. Some situations we must search to find it. I know many folks have found a path to their personal Higher Power. I know many young folks joined our military to defend our freedoms. I know I have a different perspective on life today. “Let’s Roll!”
It has to begin again with you and me. Todd Beamer’s “Let’s Roll!” is a call to action. We as American citizens need to band together just as the Patriots did in 1776… and the Patriots did on 09-11-2001. We need to be active in our country. Remember “…those that show up change the world.” Mizpah ;-]]>
