When I first heard about the Style Black collection in August, I immediately started digging for information about the products. Everything sounded fabulous and chic, but there was one eyeshadow that stood out to me, Young Punk. I finally got to visit it last weekend, and while everything was great, nothing was very ‘me.’ Looking at the Mineralize Eyeshadows, however, Young Punk was even more beautiful in person than the swatches online. I was lucky enough to get the last one at my MAC counter. This is my first mineralize eyeshadow, and the one that makes me want to buy all of the other ones.
Young Punk’s bold color is what drew me in at first. Online, it looks like a black with pink and purple veining. In person, it looks completely purple. However, not a normal purple, a deep, velvety purple. When swatched, you see why it is part of the Style Black collection. It shows up a smoky black with lots of beautiful purple glitter. This color is my favorite nighttime color, and can be used in lots of ways.
The formula of a Mineralize Eyeshadow is wonderful. Young Punk feels frosty, but does have glitter which makes it a little chunky. This shadow is soft, but very pigmented; one swatch and you have amazing color. Young Punk is very easy to work with, but gives the wearer an extremely sophisticated, sexy look.
This shadow is perfect for night, but I advise against using it in a day look as it is very dark and sultry. Young Punk can also be used as great eyeliner when applied wet, but should not be used on the waterline as there is glitter in it and it could be irritating. This shadow has many uses, and gives a great look/finish any way you use it.
Young Punk and all other Mineralize Eyeshadows from the Style Black collection retail for $19.50 at MAC stores, MAC counters, and maccosmetics.com. For 3.2 grams of product, this is a steal compared to the normal $14.50 for 1.5 grams. To me, $19.50 is completely worth the amazing color payoff and gorgeous color of this new eyeshadow gem.
Young Punk and all other Mineralize Eyeshadows come in the classic black MAC packaging. The compact is bigger than a normal eyeshadow, as is the actual product, so it will not be a good depot. However, the shadow is portable for touch-ups after a late night or on the run.
I am in love with this eyeshadow- everything about it calls to me. Its’ name (I am in love with punk music), the formula (a nice black shimmer with perfect purple glitter), the brand (classic MAC, which I love), and of course, the color since purples are my favorite shadows. I recommend this to an intermediate user or higher, because blacks can look weird if you don’t know how to manipulate them. However, this is fabulous eyeliner for anyone who wants a classic black with a twist. If you can find this, I would buy it right away as this is a limited edition product. It is well worth the cost and completely lives up to its’ punk reputation. I love this and I know you will, too.
