People are curious to see what Michael Jackson’s long-time friend, Mark Lester, looks like, which has caused searches for a photo or photos of the Jackson children godfather to escalate. Since Mark Lester’s name hit the airwaves and the internet Saturday as another of the possible father’s of Michael Jackson’s children — and in this particular case, Paris’ father — the internet has burned for people attempting to find a Mark Lester photo. The 51-year-old former child star told British tabloid News of the World that he donated sperm to Michael Jackson so that he might have children. In a video (better than a photo), Mark Lester told News of the World that Paris Jackson resembled his own 15-year-old daughter, Harriet.
So the search for Mark Lester photos is on. Dominant genes aside, there is the possibility that Mark Lester and/or his daughter could resemble Paris Jackson anyway. The fact that someone looks like someone else is never a great indicator that one person is related to another. However, the coinciding of proximity and physiological features often supports the predisposition to believe that those who resemble each other must in some way be connected through lineage.
But Mark Lester says that he came forward because he wanted to maintain a relationship with the children and was afraid that that might not now be possible. Mark Lester has been a friend of Michael Jackson’s for 27 years. According to Debbie Rowe, Lester has concerns about the welfare and upbringing of the children. Lester told News of the World that it was while Michael Jackson was married to Debbie Rowe that he donated his sperm. It is unclear if Mark Lester’s coming forward was in response to Katherine Jackson, Michael Jackson’s mother, being awarded custody this past week.
Paris Michael Katherine Jackson was born on April 3, 1998.
And so, with those words in the News of the World and the statement that he would be willing to take a paternity test, Mark Lester and Mark Lester’s photos became a hot topic.
But people are to be cautioned to not place great stock in what they see in a photo of Mark Lester — or even a photo of Mark Lester’s child, Harriet. Although coincidences are suspicious entities in and of themselves, a resemblance and the fact that Mark Lester was a sperm donor in Michael Jackson’s attempts at fatherhood does not mean that Paris Jackson is Mark Lester’s child.
It does not mean that Paris Jackson is not Mark Lester’s child, either.
A photo might say a thousand words but it cannot definitively say that.
But a DNA test can…
