If you have time to back off the Road to the Show mode, there is a franchise mode in MLB 10 the Show that waits to be explored. Albeit an amazing game, the franchise mode does have some aspects that could be improved upon and make MLB 10 the Show the most amazing baseball game yet.
Here is wish list of items that Sony can address for the development of MLB 10 the Show with regards to the franchise mode.
MLB 10 the Show Franchise Mode Wish List: Player Progression
In MLB 10 the Show, Sony needs to add documentation about the player progression system. The player progression system, while unique, was hard to understand. With no documentation regarding how it worked, it is difficult to adequately increase your players’ attributes.
Would it have worked for players if there was a better understanding? Possibly, but it would help immensely if some documentation were involved about MLB 10 the Show player progression system.
MLB 10 the Show Franchise Mode Wish List: Improved Roster Interfaces
There was plenty of eyestrain while trying to interpret the difference between players with an 80 rating and players with an 84 rating…from filled bars. Unless the bars are next to each other, it is nearly impossible to dissect the difference.
In MLB 10 the Show, Sony should use a numbers rating system. The numbers system is used in the players’ ratings in edit player, so just transfer that to the roster and menu screens for easier referral. It would also be recommendable if you could sort through the roster using various players’ attributes.
MLB 10 the Show Franchise Mode Wish List: Improved Computer Roster Management
Understanding what the computer was thinking on personnel decisions was difficult. They would accept trades that were of less value than they trades they previous declined. The computer would make senseless decisions in the off-season that crippled the team.
In MLB 10 the Show, the computer needs to handle personnel decisions more effectively. They should not trade the best players for a pair of B-grade prospects. Teams should put more emphasis on resigning their superstar players instead of letting them walk. When it is game seven of the World Series, the opponent’s fifth starter should not take the mound; better computer management with pitching rotations and lineups is critical.
MLB 10 the Show Franchise Mode Wish List: Stadium Designer
A nifty gadget that MLB 10 the Show could use in the marketing aspect of franchise mode is a stadium designer. A stadium designer would have the ability to edit the stadium in deep detail, including the amount of seats, height of walls, and distance from home plate. Making it part of the marketing scheme of MLB 10 the Show would make it more challenging to update your stadium as you would need the funds.
MLB 10 the Show Franchise Mode Wish List: Exhibition Franchise
I would love a franchise option in MLB 10 the Show where you took over a team from scratch and built them into a dynasty. Considering Major League Baseball does not use even numbered divisions, I believe such mode would most likely happen on a baseball game. At the least, it could replace one of the existing teams. Does anyone care if the Kansas City Royals aren’t in your franchise?
Gamers would get to build the team, design the stadium from scratch, decide upon location, and any marketing decisions associated with starting a franchise for an exhibition club. You would get to decide upon the budget, whether you want to be a low budget club or start off as the league’s next big spender.
At the least, I would enjoy the possibility to rearrange leagues. Move the Houston Astros to the AL West with the Texas Rangers, etc.
MLB 10 the Show Franchise Mode Wish List: Transportation
What Major League Baseball team drives a town bus across country to their games? MLB 10 the Show would benefit from a more realistic marketing mode with added features.
MLB 10 the Show Franchise Mode Wish List: Atmosphere
I played a Game 7 World Series game in MLB 09 the Show, and after hitting the game winning single in late innings, the response from the home crowd would have been disgraceful from even a Little League World Series game.
In MLB 10 the Show, the crowd needs to interact with the game, especially in the playoffs. The emotion from the audience is essential in developing the perfect baseball game. The crowd should fire me up after I make a huge play in crunch time, not remain silent.
MLB 10 the Show Franchise Mode Wish List: Franchise Transferal
The NCAA series allows you to export your draft class to the Madden series. In MLB 10 the Show, why not give players the ability to transfer their franchise files from the previous game? That’s always been an Achilles heel of sports games; finishing your franchise before the new release comes out. In a great series like MLB the Show where there is so much to do, let players carry over their franchises.
MLB 10 the Show Franchise Mode Wish List: Drafting
Drafting is inconvenient and senseless. In MLB 10 the Show, the drafting system needs revamped.
Scouting is pointless when it is unavailable for the June drafts. There was also a lack of pitchers and positional players once you exited the first round. No pitchers available after round one? Your fans know you can do better, Sony, and we fans know you will.
MLB 10 the Show Franchise Mode Wish List: Stat Glitch
Downloading rosters caused a glitch with career stats in franchise mode. This ruined the experience of franchise mode junkies that didn’t have accurate stats for their players.
In MLB 10 the Show, address roster deficiencies that resulted in the stats glitch. Don’t make it something that is repaired during a patch as people start their franchises before this.
MLB 10 the Show Franchise Mode Wish List: Records
Jamie commented on my MLB 10 the Show Road to the Show Wish List article about an idea that would also work in franchise mode. There need to be more season and career records. The records added intrigue when playing franchise and Road to the Show mode, but there were not enough. There should also be acknowledgment of feats such as hitting .400 in a season.
MLB 10 the Show Franchise Mode Wish List: Rain Delays
An option players could use in MLB 10 the Show would be rain delays. Games that rain out would be rescheduled for another day. This would have an impact on player’s energy. This would need to be done cautiously as overabundance of rain delays would ruin it. It needs to be an option so players not interested in this can turn it off.
MLB 10 the Show Franchise Mode Wish List: Home Run Derby
A little treat for MLB 10 the Show would be the reemergence of the home run derby. Not a critical addition, just a little gadget during the All Star weekend to add some realism.
MLB 10 the Show Franchise Mode Wish List: Playoff Tiebreaker
In a Road to the Show season, my team ended the year tied for the divisional lead. I prepared for a playoff game, but it was not the playoff game I was expected; my team advanced to the Wild Card. I know it was the Washington Nationals, but shouldn’t they earn it?
In MLB 10 the Show, playoff tiebreakers must be added at the end of the season if there are ties between or amongst teams for the division. Do or die, not flip of the coin.
