When my husband and I were married nearly 30 years ago, I weighed 103 pounds. Fast forward 28 years and that weight had crawled up to 143! I was determined to lose some of that weight, and am down to 120. My size has dropped from a size 10-12 to a 8. I am still in between sizes of clothes in my closet, so I have been slowly replacing my wardrobe.
My body is the dreaded pear shape, bigger on the bottom than on the top. While this shape is said to be good for heart health, it makes finding a good fitting pair of pants a challenge.
My Fred Meyer store recently had a sale on clearance items in their clothing department, buy one get one free. I tried on seven pair of pants, and only one pair gave me the fit and look I desired. That pair of pants was the Lee At The Waist Plain Front pants. I had just purchased a top from Nordstrom in brown tones, and wanted brown pants to go with this, and these pants fit the bill perfectly!
I love these pants! With my slightly larger hips and tiny waist (my friends say they look at me and get “waist envy”), I was so pleased to find these pants fit over my hips comfortably, yet the waist fits perfect as well, with none of the gaping at the waist! The tags on these pants say they have a “custom fit waistband” that stretches for a hidden extra inch.
Lee makes these pants in 98% cotton and 2% spandex, making them extremely comfortable to wear, while working or for more casual outings. They are also dressy enough to wear to church, out to dinner, or other such social gatherings. The fabric almost looks like a twill, and the fabric stretches horizontally, but not vertically.
There are two flat, slide in pockets, that keep the slimming look in the front, and the back has two flat slide in pockets that each have a button closure. These don’t add to the fullness of the hip area, yay!
Lee At The Waist Plain Front pants have a waistband, a zipper front, and a button closure at the very top. The legs are quite straight, which makes the chore of shortening these pants (if needed) a breeze. I actually did have to hem my pants up about 1/2″, and the straight leg meant I could turn the hem up and stitch in place, no trimming needed.
I am only 5′ 2″ tall, and so I wear the petite size, but the Lee At The Waist Plain Front Pants are also available in normal and long lengths. They come in a nice selection of colors too, my store had black, navy, brown and gray.
Before I found these Lee At The Waist Plain Front pants, I had a hard time finding any pants with a waistband that came to the waist, it seems that the lower riding, hip hugger style pants of the 1970’s are back in style, but I am a bit too old for those, I’m not going back to that stage in my life!
These pants retailed for $34.00, but were on sale for $27.97, but with the buy one get one free sale, they were totally free for me. Can’t beat that with a stick!
To conclude, the Lee At The Waist Plain Front pants have a relaxed, stretch fit, for casual comfort. They are plain, but still dressy, appropriate for most occasions. With my dressy top, these actually look anything but casual!
