So it is getting closer to Halloween, and of course there will be several television networks that will have horror movie marathons, some lasting the whole month of October. According to most websites and TV guides it is still too early to know for sure what these networks will be showing, but it is no doubt that there will be a countless amount of terrifying programming that will be shown on Halloween night, as well as the entire month of October. The following is a list of my top 5 choices for Halloween Horror movie marathons:
(they are listed in no particular order)
1. Chiller Channel
If you have Dish Network television service they have a network called Chiller, which shows nothing but horror, scary, and paranormal television programs and movies. This year will feature a horror mini-movie marathon, where all the movies are made by the viewers and fans. Last year it was pretty amazing, some of the movies where actually scary, some where funny. Even though this will be on Halloween night, they show nothing but scary stuff, so in my opinion this channel is always awesome.
2. American Movie Classics
This channel has a yearly horror movie marathon, which they air classics like “Magic” starring Anthony Hopkins, and the “Halloween” series. Along with the usual horror classics, they air lesser known but equally scary horror movies, this is always something I try to check out at least once on Halloween.
3. ABC Family
This channel has a yearly event they call, “13 Nights of Halloween” where they usually air movies such as, “Hocus Pocus” and other pg-13 rated Halloween movies. Also they will air several shows like “Scariest Places on Earth” that place kids or families in haunted places and ask them to investigate the areas.
This network is known for its annual countdown show, “100 top Horror Movie Moments” this will no doubt be airing all throughout the month of October. They will also be showing such horror classics “Omen” and “The Exorcist” which in my opinion are two of the most scary movies ever.
Even though they updated their name, the things they air on Halloween more than likely won’t change for a long time. Yearly on SyFy they have an all night live marathon of their headline original show, “Ghost Hunters” where the team goes to and investigates a place that is reportedly haunted. Notable Halloween episodes include the Stanley Hotel, which is the actual hotel that was used for the movie “The Shining” and last year the team went to investigate Fort Delaware, which is a huge, scary place. Also all throughout the month of October SyFy will be airing horror movie classics, such as the “Halloween” series, “Friday the 13TH” series, as well many other horror classics.
No matter what floats your boat when it comes to Halloween, there is no doubt that there is something out there for everyone. The ones listed above are just a sampling of the horror movie marathons that will take place this year.
This site was used to list last years horror movie marathons, it should be updated for this year the closer it gets to Halloween.
