Nature Valley Granola Nut Clusters in the “Nut Lovers” variety come in a large pouch with swoops of light and dark purple at the bottom. The top of the package is decked out with a sunny yellow sky above a scene with dense woods being reflected in a sun-bleached body of water. In the foreground is a picture of the nutty product, nearly matching the color of the water and sky. It’s a very peaceful scene and gives the impression that these are a snack for someone who is interested in the outdoors and in natural foods.
I received a free sample of Nature Valley Granola Nut Clusters in the “Nut Lovers” variety in a one-ounce single serving pouch. Like the larger pouch you get in the store, this mini package tells us that Nature Valley Granola Nut Clusters in the “Nut Lovers” variety contain cashews, pecans, peanuts, granola, and a touch of honey. Sounds wonderful!
And Nature Valley Granola Nut Clusters in the “Nut Lovers” variety taste pretty wonderful too! A good balance of sweet and salty plays well off the other nutty ingredients, and kept me happily munching. I have always really enjoyed cashews and I was pleased to find that they didn’t play second fiddle to the generally less expensive peanuts in the product. The stronger flavored pecans were also there in good portion, but not so much as to overwhelm the flavor of the other nuts. A hint of granola adds a nice touch of texture and flavor as well. Nutritionally speaking, this isn’t too bad a snack. There’s a good little chunk of calories (150) and 14 percent of total fat for the day (6 percent being saturated), but they also give you 4 percent of your daily-recommended value of dietary fiber, 4 percent of your daily-recommended value of iron, and 4 grams of protein. (I have to wonder why protein never has a daily-recommended value given. I have no idea how many grams I need in a day.)
As far as being natural, I suppose these are as natural as you can expect a mass-produced pre-packaged product to be. I didn’t see any preservatives listed, but my knowledge of such things is limited. So maybe they used a preservative from a more natural source.
I have heard that Nature Valley Granola Nut Clusters in the “Nut Lovers” variety is a fairly expensive product, but the quality and taste of these nut clusters (along with the dollar off coupon I received with my sample) will likely entice me to buy a full sized bag. I really recommend Nature Valley Granola Nut Clusters in the “Nut Lovers” variety. They taste great and are a fairly healthy snack.
