New Moon Box Office Results: Amazing Results for Twilight’s New Moon

by sawpan

New Moon Box Office results are in, and the Twilight sequel isn’t disappointing those involved in its creation. Twilight fans flocked to the premiere, breaking box office records for midnight showings. Twilight: made a whopping $26.3 million at Thursday night’s showing alone, setting a new record. Perhaps it’s all those vampires coming out after dark created the record-breaking New Moon box office results. Maybe it’s just that good of a show.

I saw Twilight at a discount theater a couple weeks before it came out on video. I was pleasantly surprised that the movie was pretty well void of overtly sexual themes, free from gory blood, and free from foul language. The story line was easy to follow and you could relate to the characters very well.

I imagine that New Moon isn’t any different. Even though critics don’t give the movie glowing reviews, the box office results are the true indicator of the film’s success. After all, if I were an actor I wouldn’t care too much about what critics said as long as I was getting paid. Nothing is going to pull Twilight fans from their favorite series. Teens and Tweens in love with mysterious Robert Pattinson and hunky Taylor Lautner are going to go to the movie time and time again just to see their celebrity crush on the big screen.

Die hard fans won’t have to wait long until the next sequel hits the box office. Eclipse is set to be released in June 2010, and is highly anticipated by fans – even if critics could care less.

Hollywood Insider reports that a little over 2,300 theaters issued a one-time re-showing of the first Twilight film. Those showings grossed more than $1.3 million – amazing results considering that the movie is already on DVD and will soon be shown on premium cable channels.

The box office results highlight the fact that America is currently obsessed with Vampires. The only thing I think that could top last night’s box office records is a True Blood full length film. Of course, this film would likely cater to a much older audience.

If you have a few extra dollars in your pocket and nothing else to do this weekend, head on out to your local movie theater. Twilight: New Moon is a tongue-in-cheek, easy to follow movie. It doesn’t have a lot of sex, violence, or vulgar language. If you don’t feel like braving the crowds, wait a couple of weeks until the box office buzz dies down, then go see New Moon.
