As soon as President Obama took office, one of the first things he wanted to address was the rising health care costs across the nation. He started working with congress to provide affordable health care for all Americans. Already, President Obama signed the Children’s Health Insurance Reauthorization Act which has spread health care to millions of children in the country including 4 million uninsured children. Obama also created the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act which created affordable health care to many unemployed Americans.
So far the President has done a lot to lower health care costs but he still insists on making health care coverage better and more affordable for all Americans. He plans to work with Congress, doctors, and businesses to improve our health care and make it more accessible. Obama believes that by working together, they can reduce the rising costs of health care coverage for businesses and the government. He also believes in freedom of choice when it comes to selecting the doctors and health plans that we choose. President Obama believes that no families should fall into considerable debt due to the costs of health care and has vowed to protect them from doing so. He plans on investing more money into prevention and wellness programs that will benefit all citizens. You shouldn’t lose your health care coverage if you lose your job and the President includes this in his health care reform plans. Most importantly, Obama’s health care reform plans want to give affordable quality health care to all Americans regardless. His plans are based around giving the federal government more control and over health care dollars and decision making. This plan would offer more choice for Americans and create more competition for health care companies who must offer the best quality and value to their customers. The federal government would run the new government health care system and also watch over the private health care plans.
By having such high health care costs right now, it hinders our already ailing economy by offering more expensive health care than most other civilized countries that we are competing against across the globe. Currently, the United States spends nearly twice the average amount of money on health care than other developed countries. This is unacceptable and President Obama knows this and is working hard to improve our situation. Obama has stated that his plans will save American families $2,500 on average.
It is not very clear how much money exactly American taxpayers will have to pay for this plan as there are many details that are still being sorted out and we will not know how much money it will cost until later on although many experts doubt it will be too costly.
