Obama is Awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. Is there a question as to if he deserves it?
For the past eight years under the Bush administration, we as a country have been hated by most of the rest of the world. I don’t use the H word lightly. I’ve met several people in the last several years that when they’ve traveled abroad when Bush was in office, they actually claimed to be from a different country, Australia or Canada, to avoid any kind of prejudice for being an American. It was a tough eight years for most of us who still believe in this country. There was an incessant fear during the Bush administrations years is so easy to forget about when another President takes over. The rest of the world feared what Bush’s next move would be to further his personal and professional desires, because he didn’t take them into consideration at all. If anything, he stomped on many countries.
So you ask if Obama really deserves the Nobel Peace Prize, Let’s look at the basic reasons that such an award is given. One of the criteria is that President Obama has to have contributed to world peace. In the 2 years that he ran for the Presidential office, he actually brought a kind of hope that hasn’t been seen in this country (or in the world). His vision, made this country unite. There were a few stragglers, but they were the exception and not the rule. He did take this countries election by a landslide. What was so amazing about it is that people in other countries actually had mock elections at the same time that we did here. They voted for President Obama in Africa and other places around the world. People from around the world and here in the U.S. watched their televisions madly waiting for the results of this election. For the world knew, if the United States didn’t, that everything that happened on that night would effect them for the next 4 years just as the past 8 years had so negatively affected them.
When President Obama was elected as the next President of the United States of America, the entire world saw his vision. Suddenly we were the good guys again. Was it because anything had changed? No. It never is. It was because one man had a vision and was speaking from his heart and his soul and he was making the right moves for the right reasons. It wasn’t to fatten his wallet or to further a career move. The entire world were once again our friends. And on that same night it could be assumed that 100’s of nuclear missiles were pointed away from this country and in another direction. Sure there have been other things that have been done, but personally these are the most important in my world.
So if you still doubt that President Obama deserves the Nobel Peace Prize, I can honestly say that you are one of the exceptions that didn’t vote for him in the first place. You are one of the ones that miss out on the bigger, more important picture. There’s no pleasing you anyway.
We on the other hand, commend President Obama and the Nobel Peace Prize Committee’s decision. They have vision and can see greatness even from across a big body of water.
truth, beauty, freedom and above all things, LOVE.
Amen and Blessed Be.
