While they aren’t new, Obama Joker poster’s recently came to my attention. LA’s Urban Policy Roundtable President Earl Ogari Hutchinson said, that these posters are “politically mean spirited and dangerous.”
These posters depict President Obama painted as the Joker from “The Dark Knight.” The words socialism are printed on the bottom. These posters have been found all across the nation, and in many communities, people who are found placing them up have been arrested. The Gestapo in America?
According to FoxNews, in Florida, Police Captain Eric Jensen took a teenage suspect into custody for “affixing these posters on light poles, public and private buildings, overpasses, and other locations.” The police are still considering if they will charge this teen and two others with vandalism.
Are these posters any different than the art with George Bush having a gun pointed at his head? In fact, are they even as bad? The George Bush artwork, was considered a serious threat by the FBI, because the poster actually showed the president with a gun pointed at his head. While I am of the opinion it was in poor taste, I also see the George Bush poster as an expression of art, and an individual’s right to free speech.
Since when has a person referring to the president as a comic book villain become criminal? Is our individual freedom of speech being taken away? Would anyone be surprised? Are newspaper political cartoonists the next people to be accused of being politically mean spirited and dangerous? Give me a break!
These posters are an expression of the frustration that many Americans are feeling at the prospect of our great nation becoming a socialist nation. Would someone please bring in the wheel barrow of money for a loaf of bread, I’m hungry!
America was founded by men who valued individual liberty more than life. Today our country is being ravaged by people, who claim to look out for “our” best interests. These men and women are determined to lead our great nation into embracing socialist programs like the national healthcare system.
Under such a system, individual rights are taken away from both the patients and the doctors. People in need of medical treatments that are classified as elective may wait for months if not years before receiving treatment. Places that already have instituted national healthcare programs like Canada, list ailments like cancer as medical electives.
Under such a system our ailing parents and grandparents are likely to not receive required medical treatment, or at least not in a timely manner. Or worse, there have been reports that they could possibly just be terminated. While those reports are probably just hysteria, who knows?
We must not back down from reporting about things that are influencing our great nation, and especially from mentioning those things that are tearing her down.
“He that would make his own liberty secure, must guard even his enemy from oppression; for if he violates this duty, he establishes a precedent that will reach to himself.”
