So, it’s in the news, (it must be official), Paula is leaving Idol after eight seasons of helping to make it the most successful reality show ever. What’s up with that? What will they do without her? I don’t think they’ll have to, but I’ll address that in a little bit.
Personally, if Paula Abdul “really” leaves American Idol, I will no longer watch it. Not that I was addicted to it in the first place. However, I did think that seeing Paula and Simon spar was the most interesting part of the show. Let’s face it, after eight long seasons, anything can get boring. Even though Paula acted a little goofy and “out of this world” at times, she was the “nicest and most compassionate judge” who provided the interesting contrast between her and Simon. Simon, no doubt says exactly what he thinks, or is he paid to do that? I’ve always thought the whole show is rigged, but it’s Hollywood, and we will never know the truth. It’s just my humble opinion and I mean it in the nicest way possible.
I really think the whole “Paula’s leaving deal” is just a bunch of hype, to stir up the pot and attract more attention to the upcoming season’s show. I think the show’s higher-ups feel slighted by all the media attention that President Barrack Obama’s getting, good or bad. I mean, how can Idol top Obama’s Health Reform plan and Cash for Clunkers programs? Come on, they would have to be really good to grab the attention away from our President when he’s got those great ideas going for him.
So, they come up with one of Idol’s most popular stars leaving, and we as, scandal lovers and hungry entertainment seekers fall for it hook, line, and sinker as the old saying goes. We’ll be hearing about this until the new season starts in January and then Paula will be back, either because she reconsiders due to the hoop-la her fans are going to throw or the producers will relent and offer her the contract she wanted. Either way, they’ve achieved what they set out to do, steal all the attention President Obama’s getting.
As you’ve probably guessed, I’m a little, (alright a lot) put out with Hollywood and its non-stop production of new reality shows. I’m just going to take a hiatus from it and get back to the old past-time of reading and expanding my feeble mind. I might even learn to knit or something. Anything is better than wasting my time catering to the sick need of Hollywood for attention.
So, I feel better now getting that off my chest! Feel free to comment. I am very interested in hearing your opinion on the matter.
