The PGA Championship TV schedule begins today, as the PGA Championship TV schedule is split between two networks. As such, the TV schedule is no different than the other majors, as a cable network covers the PGA Championship during the first two days, and then the designated major network takes over. In the case of the PGA Championship TV schedule, TNT is the place to go to see Tiger Woods and company tee off in the PGA Championship, before CBS takes over.
The PGA Championship TV schedule is actually being split by two cable channels in the first two days. The Golf Channel gets to cover the first part of the PGA Championship morning schedule, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Eastern. After that, TNT handles PGA Championship coverage from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., and then the Golf Channel recaps the day from 8 to 10. CBS will have their own highlights at 12:35 a.m.
TNT previously handled opening round coverage of the British Open, before ABC took over for the final weekend. In the PGA Championship TV schedule, TNT and the Golf Channel are actually sharing coverage with CBS in the final weekend.
During the weekend, the Golf Channel handles the TV schedule from 9 to 11 a.m., then TNT takes over from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and CBS does the heavy lifting from 2 to 7 p.m. Once again, CBS will be the place to be for the final deciding holes of the PGA Championship.
The PGA Championship TV schedule is annually the second golf major that CBS gets to cover until the end. After their traditional coverage of the Masters, CBS holds back while NBC covers the U.S. Open, and ABC gets the British Open. But CBS is the only major networks to cover two golf majors in one year.
For this final major, the PGA Championship TV schedule will hopefully not be altered by rain or other bad weather, as the schedule was for the U.S. Open and parts of the British Open. This time, conditions are cool at Hazeltine National as the first tee times approach.
By the end of the PGA Championship TV schedule, Tiger Woods will have his only major of the year, or will fall short once again while a lesser known player takes the honors. TNT, CBS and the Golf Channel are at least hoping Woods makes the cut this time, at the bare minimum.
Starting at 11 a.m., the Golf Channel is the place to be to watch the very beginning of the PGA Championship, at least until 2 p.m.
