I have written before about the Thermofocus 5-in-1 Non Contact Thermometer from Kids-Med; I recently discovered that this product has done a lot more than the rounds of the online realms. The Thermofocus 5-in-1 Non Contact Thermometer has actually been into the homes of parents with kids and has won the prestigious honor of being one of the PTPA Media Awards Winners for Top Products for the 2009 Holiday Season.
PTPA stands for Parent Tested, Parent Approved. According to the PTPA Media Facebook profile, the group was founded in February 2008; the glory of this undertaking doesn’t appear to be of much interest to the founders; what they are concerned about is getting the correct products into the hands of parents through practical, in home testing. From their Facebook Mission Statement, PTPA Media exists, “To help parents find the latest and greatest products for their families – and save them the trouble of purchasing another product that will end up in the trash!” As too many parents are all too aware of, not everything that glitters in the storeroom ends up being true gold. PTPA Media is of the persuasion that “Nothing is better than the recommendation of another mom!”
The process is rather ingenious and makes the most sense of all. New products are sent to PTPA Media which are then put into use in the homes of a cross section of their 20,000 volunteer families. The PTPA Media Awards are offered to “winners (who) are chosen based on merit and consumer experience – not on commercial considerations. As a result, the PTPA Seal is quickly gaining recognition as an international leader in certifying consumer products for quality, effectiveness and value.” While many of these variables are subjective; one mother may find no use for what another mother loves; the fact remains that small kids and infants all have largely similar circumstances; the PTPA Media Awards are there to guide down general paths.
A large variety of very popular companies offer their products to PTPA Media for review. Names from this list include Disney, Knowledge Adventure, Wells Fargo, and Cisco as well as scores of others. The products used run the gamut and are all focused on making moms lives easier and kids lives better.
So it was for the Kids-Med Thermofocus 5-in-1 Non Contact Thermometer. The PTPA has awarded the 5-in-1 their seal of approval and surmised that the “Kids-Med Thermofocus 5-in-1 Non Contact Thermometer (is) a trauma-free thermometer that has no contact with the skin. Clinically proven to be as accurate as a rectal or ear thermometer, it measures the temperature of a forehead with the click of a button.”
If you’re considering a gift for a flustered new parent or even parents of older kids, PTPA suggests you seek out the Kids-Med Thermofocus 5-in-1 Non Contact Thermometer. It may be the best gift you’ve ever given!
