Apple crisp is quick and easy recipe to make and is a delicious alternative to other apple desserts, such as apple pie or apple cobbler.
Be sure to choose apples suitable for baking to make apple crisp. The best baking apples offer a balance of sweet and tart flavors and are firm fleshed fruit that won’t turn to mush in the oven. Granny Smith, Macoun, Honeycrisp, Empire, MacIntosh, Cortland, or Jonagold apples are all good choices.

For this apple crisp recipe, you will need…
1 c. graham cracker crumbs
1 Tbsp. unbleached flour
1 c. chopped walnuts or pecans
1 c. firmly packed sugar
¼ c. granulated sugar
1 Tbsp. grated orange peel
½ tsp. ground cinnamon
½ tsp. ground nutmeg
a pinch of salt
½ cup butter, melted
4 large baking apples
To prepare the apple crisp…
Preheat the oven to 350°F.
In a medium-sized bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs, flour, walnuts or pecans, brown sugar, and the granulated sugar. Stir in the grated orange peel, cinnamon, nutmeg, and the salt. Blend in the melted butter after the other ingredients are combined.
Lightly butter a 9×13″ baking pan, Peel, core and slice the apples. Place the apple slices on the bottom of the dish and sprinkle the crumb mixture on top. Bake the apple crisp in a 350° oven for 45 minutes.

Place a medium-sized bowl in the freezer for about 10 minutes (a metal bowl work best). Once the bowl is chilled, combine the whipping cream, confectioners’ sugar, and cinnamon in the bowl. Whip the cream mixture until soft peaks form. Transfer the cinnamon whipped cream to a serving dish.
