Folk Project Festival – October 9th thru 11th
Located at Star Lake Camp in Bloomingdale, NJ this folklore festival will have musicians Vance Gilbert, Walt Michael, Martin Swinger, Dave Kleiner, and others. This weekend long celebration has been held since 1973. This festival is a family friendly environment. No alcohol or drugs allowed. Guests have the option of staying on the campsite in cabins or you can commute from home or a near by hotel.
Discounts are available for members of the Folk Project and affiliated folk music organizations, for instance, Philadelphia Folksong Society and NY Pinewoods. A ten-dollar discount is available for the early birds. Commuter Passes range from $0 to $135 depending on the age of the attendees and what days you attend the festival. If travelers prefer to get a room on the grounds, it will be in the cost range of $110 to $300.
Workshops include, but not limited to TBD dance, nature scavenger hunt, dance stretches, songwriting, corner singing, and party games.

Arcadia Valley Mountain Music Festival – October 16th thru 18th
Held in Arcadia Valley, which is 80 miles from St. Louis, MO, this event is free. This festival features musical artists Mississippi Sawyers, Blend, Steppin’ In It, and the Heartsfield. Campgrounds are near the festival for your convenience or you can stay in a B&B or hotel.
Fruita Fall Festival – September 25th thru 27th
This best of the west festival is held in Fruita, Colorado. This is a three-day festival that will have over 150 vendors selling arts and crafts. The usual crowd capacity is 50,000. Events will include a youth pet talent show, a parade, bed race, and baking and canning contests. Various artists will perform bluegrass and country music.
Massanutten Resort Fall Festival – October 10th from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This festival is located in the beautiful mountains of Virginia. Admission to the festival is $5 a person and children under 10 get in for free. All proceeds will go to the local fire and rescue squads. Southpaw and Maybe Tomorrow musical talent will be performing. There will be 50 arts and crafts vendors, free chairlift rides, free face painting, and free sight and hearing tests. Wine tasting will be offered by Horton Vineyards, Spring Creek, Prince Michel Vineyard, Cross Keys Vineyards, and Sweely Estate Winery. A Beer Garden is available at $3 a ticket. Food options are Asian cuisine, BBQ, pizza, honey-baked ham and lots more. This is a one-day festival, but if you are driving from a long distance don’t worry. There are other activities in the resort to take advantage of.
Not only is the resort holding a fall festival it is one of the best resorts in the Rockingham County area. This great vacation spot has a golf course, water park, spa, fishing, snow sports, horseback riding, canoeing, shopping, and dining. Please note there are no dogs, outside food or drink, and coolers allowed at the festival. This event will be held rain or shine. Don’t forget to bring a lawn chair or blanket.
