There have been a few times over the years where my family has eaten our Thanksgiving dinner out at a restaurant. Sometimes it is because we have family coming in town and they want to try a certain place and then there are just those times where you don’t feel like doing all that cooking. Houston is a great city with great food and here are some ideas for you and your family.
With twenty dine in locations in the Houston area this restaurant chain has been serving Thanksgiving dinner to hungry Houstonians for years. On Thanksgiving Day they are open from 11 am to 8:30 p.m. This cafeteria style restaurant does not require reservations. They serve a wonderful traditional southern Thanksgiving meal for $11.99. That price includes your entrée, cornbread dressing, your choice of two side dishes, a choice of a bread and a holiday dessert. My family has eaten here on Thanksgiving and many other times over the years the food is delicious and homemade just like Mom or Grandma’s.
For a wonderful buffet and exciting location for your families Thanksgiving dinner this is a great choice. They are open on Thanksgiving from 10 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Their buffet is $15.95 for children, $34.95 for adults and $29.95 for seniors not including tax, reservations are required. The buffet holiday buffet includes all the traditional Thanksgiving favorites with a lot of other delicious choices. They also have a knee high children’s buffet which they think is the coolest. With all the amazing aquariums to enjoy while you eat this would make a great Thanksgiving dinner experience.
This diner located on Westheimer has been serving Houston 24 hours a day since 1979. Thanksgiving is no exception they are also open 24 hours, it is their motto Katz’s never kloses. For a very reasonable $10.00 they serve a traditional Thanksgiving meal which includes turkey and dressing with a stuffed potato. But is you are in the mood for something different this is definitely the place their menu is huge and everything is wonderful. They offer specialty drinks, soups, salads, overstuffed New York style deli sandwiches and breakfast served all day. And then if you still have room for dessert you can choose from pie, cake, blintz, malts or sundaes.
I couldn’t suggest Thanksgiving dinner restaurants in Houston without mentioning House of Pies. They have two locations in Houston and have wonderful food but their claim to fame is their heavenly fresh desserts. They don’t take orders since all the pies are made fresh but the wait in line is so worth it. They offer thirty different types of pies, and 12 types of cheesecakes ranging in price from $9.50 to $ 25.00. Their selection includes favorites like apple, cherry and pumpkin pie. They also offer some really unique choices like Texas Pecan Fudge, Bayou Goo and Bavarian Chocolate Banana. No matter which you choose there is no wrong choice all of them are delicious.
Houston is a wonderful city with many amazing restaurants that will meet and exceed your families expectations for Thanksgiving dinner.
