My daughter wanted to look at graduate school in Atlanta. On the way there, we stopped at one of my favorite towns which is Dalton, Georgia. The town has changed quite a bit from the town it once was. Several of the stores and restaurants we used to enjoy are now closed and gone. Thus, we found ourselves at the following Applebee’s restaurant location in Dalton, Georgia.
1322 W Walnut Ave
Dalton, GA 30720
Phone: (706) 278-5776
Applebee’s Bar and Grill is known for a relaxed friendly atmosphere. This location is not an exception. It was decorated in the standard peppy décor for Applebee’s. If you are not familiar with this chain some of the competitors that it is similar to include Ruby Tuesday and TGI Friday’s.
There are 6 big screen television sets that are mounted on the walls. These primary decorate the corners of the restaurant and the bar area. It was noisy enough to detract from thee conversation with the bar area being louder than other spots in the restaurant. Some people like this kind of ambience.
If the noise level at the Applebee’s Bar and Grill in Dalton bothers you it is possible to ask to be seated away from the bar area. We did this. The hostess cheerfully placed us at a table where we could more easily converse.
Economic times seem to have hit Dalton, Georgia hard. In addition to the closes businesses the parking lot of Applebee’s Bar and Grill in Dalton, Georgia was only about ½ – ¾ full. My daughter and I were visiting the restaurant at around 1:00 pm. This is prime time for the after church crowd to hit. There was no waiting and we noticed several empty tables.
Our server for the meal was Amber. She did a great job! Applebee’s has a special promotion going at the time of this writing. For $20.00 you can get and appetizer and two entrees. This sounded like too good of a deal to pass up.
Amber explained that we could choose between the spinach and artichoke appetizer, Buffalo wings, mozzarella sticks or onion rings. We talked about each one and decided to choose the spinach dip.
We had several entrees to choose from. These included chicken tenders, an assortment of burger possibilities, chicken pasta, salads or a 7 ounce sirloin steak. The variety of dishes included in the promotion pleasantly surprised both my daughter and myself.
It seemed to take extra time for our meals to arrive. Amber brought refills while we were waiting. It also seemed to take a little extra time for our plates to be cleared. Otherwise, the service Amber gave was very good. She was pleasant and personable.
Our entrees were both served hot. My daughter ordered the 7 ounce sirloin. They came with seasoned mashed potatoes and a side of mixed vegetables. The vegetables include broccoli, zucchini and carrots. She said they had a light flavor that contrasted nicely with the steak.
I ordered the steakburger with A-1 seasoning. It was served on a multigrain bun with a side of french fries. The burger was cooked to a perfect medium well. The inside was done but the outside was not burned.
The multigrain bun seemed to go well with the burger. French fries are best served crisp. These met the challenge. The fries and burger were all a little on the salty side. If I order these items again I was ask the cook to go lightly with the seasoning.
I did like the spinach artichoke dip at the Applebee’s in Dalton. This was served hot. The chips were not warm but they had a good flavor.
All in all, we enjoyed our trip to the Applebee’s Bar and Grill in Dalton, Georgia. In fact, we may stop in on the way back to Tennessee.
