Robert Pattinson, the actor who plays the vampire Edward in Twilight, will be very much in evidence this Halloween. Trick-or-treaters costumed as Robert Pattinson will be out in force. Want to be Edward and Bella this Halloween? Here’s how. Robert Pattinson first came to movie-goers’ attention in America as Cedric Digory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. While Pattinson showed decent talent and was nice looking in Harry Potter, I don’t think anyone was prepared for Robert Pattinson’s meteoric rise to fame as Edward Cullen in the vampire love chick flick,Twilight. The 23 year old London born Robert Pattinson is the first Robert to come up on any Internet search engine. The name Robert Pattinson is emblazoned on everything it seems and the actor’s picture is everywhere.
The Twilight book series was a phenomenon and the movie is a box office hit like no other. So it takes no psychic ability to predict a rash of Robert Pattinson, Edward Cullen and Edward and Bella look-a-likes for Trick-or-Treat or at costume parties. Thinking of going as Robert Pattinson or Edward Cullen this Halloween? Here is your DIY guide to a Robert Pattinson costume.
First of all, Robert Pattinson doesn’t look drastically different from his character of Edward Cullen. It just depends upon whether you want to bring out the vampire features. Even as a vampire, it’s the understated ‘less-is-more’ version in Twilight. No gore or cummerbund tuxedos.
Hair: Robert Pattinson/ Edward Cullen is known for those tousled up-brushed locks. To create this look, you will need to cover your hair in gel or mousse. Mess your hair and comb the front up and out. Allow the mouse to set and give your hair a once over spritz with hair spray.
Make-up: I’m going to give you some theater make-up tips. Edward’s face is one of color contrasts. Cover your face with very light colored foundation and just a touch of white powder. To create the Edward Cullen’s gaunt spectral vampire look, apply a purple eye shadow in the hollows of your cheeks, just under the cheekbones. Apply the same eye shadow to your temples and eyelids. Darken your eyebrows and draw them slightly upward. Apply a blood red lipstick to your lips. It’s okay; guys where all kinds of make-up in theater. And remember the idea is to create just a suggestion of blood. It’s all about nuance and subtlety in Twilight. Vampires in Twilight do not have fangs.
Clothing: Dark denim jeans with a white tee shirt and fitted jacket work well. You might also go a little gothic and add a dark trench coat or flared highland range coat. Edward Cullen also wears a fitted blue knit sweater.
Whatever your costume this Halloween, just please be careful and stay safe.
