Rush Limbaugh continues to be the biggest man on the right making waves and rallying his followers by doing something outrageous: comparing the Obama health care logo to a Nazi symbol containing a swastika. Rush Limbaugh has a side-by-side comparison of the Nazi logo and the Obama health care logo up on his site, and I must say that the similarities between the Obama health care logo and the Nazi symbol are rather striking.
The Obama health care logo has his signature O with the three red stripes inside of it; the Nazi logo features a circle with a red swastika inside of it. The Obama health care logo contains a symbol classically used to reference health care, the caduceus, which is a symbol of a winged staff entwined by two serpents. It is a Greek symbol often used as a symbol for medicine, although it is probably used in this way due to confusion with the rod of Asclepius, which is an ancient symbol associated with healing. (So there you go, Rush Limbaugh; you can attack Obama for using the wrong symbol in his logo.) The Nazi symbol is topped off with an eagle. So, like the Obama health care logo, the Nazi logo has a circle, wings, and the colors red, white, and blue. That’s pretty much where the similarity ends.
On Rush Limbaugh’s site, underneath the comparison of the Nazi logo and the Obama health care logo, he has a link to a website. This website contains a rather lengthy article all about how Nazis were “environmentalist wackos”. Since many members of the far left are environmentalists, this is Rush Limbaugh’s subtle way of calling members of the left Nazis. In other words, he’s reached an all-time low.
Comparing a whole group of people to Nazis because of an almost non-existent similarity between one of the Nazi logos and the Obama health care logo and because some Nazis can be called environmentalists is really grasping for straws. The Nazi party also had a military, just like we do here in the United States! They had advanced technology for their time and some of the greatest scientists and researchers in the world. In fact, I’m sure Rush Limbaugh has at least one thing in common with Hitler (they’re both men who give angry-sounding speeches, and, like Hitler, Rush Limbaugh has plenty of followers that hang on his every word).
So as creative as he had to get with this whole Obama health care logo and Nazi symbol setup, I’m just not buying it, but now I guess we’re all just going to have to get used to this new bad word for Barack Obama; on the right, “socialist” is out; “Nazi” is in.
