2009 Shark Week schedule begins August 2nd. The 2009 Shark Week schedule gets underway on Sunday evening, with two interesting shows aimed at kicking off the week in Discovery Channel fashion. Shark Week 2009 is the latest installment of what has become a yearly event for the Discovery Channel, who has almost become known as the shark experts of television. The 2009 Shark Week schedule will have documentaries, films that include sharks as integral characters, count downs of the deadliest sharks, and even programs designed to look at what makes a shark “tick”. For fans of sharks, the 2009 Shark Week schedule is going include something for everyone.
The 2009 Shark Week premiere really starts with the two hour premiere of Blood In the Water. This takes place on Sunday, August 2nd at 9:00 P.M. PST and EST. Blood In the Water is the true story behind the bloody shark attacks of 1916, and the true story behind the inspiration of the movie Jaws. Depicted is a nine foot shark that cruises just off the New Jersey shore, and which causes havoc to everyone visiting the New Jersey beaches that year. In shark infested waters, people have begun swimming for the first time, and it presents a prey to sharks that they have never seen in the water before. What this leads to is a realization and confrontation both scary and unnerving.
Many call the story behind Blood In the Water one of the main reasons that people fear sharks so much today, and it’s definitely an interesting show that should be watched by anyone with interest in sharks. It wouldn’t be the Discovery Channel if they didn’t work their way into a show like that, and before the premiere of Blood In the Water, Shark Week 2009 will have a one hour installment of the 10 Deadliest Sharks. This is where you can learn about some of the most interesting (and deadly) sharks in the world. Some of them include the hammerhead, the lemon shark, the great white, and the bull shark. It’s going to be a very interesting look at some of the most intriguing animals of the deep.
Shark Week 2009 will continue all week long, with shows premiering every night, as well as some flavor-packed episodes of key shows mixed in there. Monday features Deadly Water with Survivorman’s Lee Stroud, Tuesday features Sharkbite Summer looking at shark attacks in 2001, and Wednesday features Great White Appetite, which is, of course, about Great White sharks. The schedule will be taking place all week, with plenty of time spent on numerous kinds of sharks and the level of danger that they present when humans are swimming nearby.
