We sat out today to do some shopping and also to purchase a
much needed straight standing ironing board.
I have had my ironing board for 30 plus years and
it sure has seen lots of ironing and pressing clothes and even quilt blocks.
Now this ironing board always squeaked and moved somewhat and just never
could stand very straight, that is it leaned to one side slightly. I asked
my husband to look at it and see if he could fix it. He is really good with fixing things but this time
that was not the case. The poor old ironing board would not even stand up after that.
I had to lean the ironing board up over a stack of books on my sewing machine and then
push and hold it kinda to make sure it stayed up as it wanted to come towards me.
While doing all of this I still had to use the iron at the same time. Now this went on for a couple
of weeks so that is why I decided today was the day to purchase a new ironing board.
We ate at our favorite place and asked the young lady who waited on us, where we might purchase an ironing board. Well she said Walmart and also Target. Target was close by so we set out to
Target after our noon meal.
We both like target and also get our prescriptions filled there.
Well upon entering the store I asked a young man if they had ironing boards and he
answered yes and said to go by the cards and then the second isle is where the
ironing boards were. We found the ironing boards pretty quickly, a miracle in itself,
and proceeded to check out the two that were available.
After much going over and checking out the two ironing boards available, and also the prices.
We came to the conclusion that the one that was $39.99, more expensive then the other one, that this one was for us even though the other one was 24.99 and nice also. The $39.99 ironing board had a place to rest your iron and also you could push it in when not resting the iron. Also some rollers on the bottom and we decided they were for transporting and not when using the ironing board as that could be dangerous.
Also the fact that it was American made and not China made like the other one. Now we have nothing
against China and I am sure we own things from there but this was the day to buy
American made and keep the money here, at least for a while.
We had some other things to pick up so made a complete circle around the store and then came to the
cash register to check-out. We had the nice check-out gentlemen to scan it in the cart and when he scanned it, the ironing board showed up $59.99. Actually the total for everything was $89.99 and at that
time we knew something was wrong. So told nice check-out gentlemen that the price under the ironing board said $39.99. After all our minds had already computed $39.99 and not the $59.99.
So nice check-out gentlemen called for another person to go check out the price for the ironing board. Meantime we were asked to stand aside while nice check-out gentlemen waited on two other
The person that was checking out the price came back and said that $39.99 was the price that
was under the ironing board we had picked out. Also that someone had put
up this ironing board and had not changed the price but that price went with another
Target gave the ironing board to us for the $39.99. We had not said anything about price
but they were very very nice to let us have the ironing board for that price. We left the store feeling very good and with our beautiful straight looking ironing board in tow and also had a blue ironing board
cover already on it. Could anything be any nicer. A straight standing ironing board and my color blue.
My husband said I could press his new shirt that he had purchased. I thought that was really nice of him.
We had a good time shopping and decided we liked Target even more and also our new straight ironing board. Now I can iron and not hear any screeching and also not have to hold up or prop up my ironing board! It also looked sturdy enough to hold maybe a few books while searching through them for a new recipe or quilt project.
Yes, I was going to like my new straight ironing board.
