Skin 2 Skin is a pricy but effective product for women with fair skin. It blends well, does not contain an overpowering fragrance and it’s environmentally friendly.
I am very sensitive to many fragrances, even high-end perfumes. Skin 2 Skin Organic has a very light scent, but no penetrating fragrances. Unlike most products, Skin 2 Skin doesn’t cause me to sneeze and doesn’t make my eyes turn red. The scent is subtle and smells mostly like the white tea and aloe components in the product.
After using Skin 2 Skin Organic for about a week, I realized I needed to apply my body lotion less frequently. It secondary purpose is to work as a moisturizer using aloe vera. This is particularly important to me because I tend to get skin allergies to most lotions; such was not the case here.
I break out with almost all makeup. I was very hesitant about smoothing more than a small dot of this on my face, but as I grew more courageous about the application of Skin 2 Care Organic, I noticed that I did not develop acne or any other skin irritations.
Skin 2 Care contains no chemicals, only organic products. This helps the consumer avoid potentially damaging components.
As I approach 30, I’m starting to notice slight wrinkles near my eyes and on my forehead, mostly on my left side (due to exposure to the sun while driving). A very tiny bit of concealer usually hides these fine wrinkles. Skin 2 Skin Organic Anti-Photoaging SPF 30 rests smoothly over the concealer without disturbing it and without becoming noticeable. Since I only used the product for a week before reviewing it (and because the wrinkles are barely noticeable to begin with), I can’t testify to the wrinkle-reduction properties of the product. However, I am more likely to use this skin-protecting product because it does not disturb my other makeup.
Because I have fair skin, I know it’s important to protect my skin, even on cloudy days. I felt a bit more confident staying outside during long periods of time and getting exercise during my lunch hour because my skin was protected. I was surprised to learn that Skin 2 Skin also reduced the effect of wind burn and the harsh dust I encounter in the city. Without the product, I sometimes get harsh red blotches as a result of the wind, but with the product, the blotches were less noticeable, even on cold, windy days.
The product blends in well to my fair skin tone. For testing purposes, I even used it on the underside of my forearms where my skin is fairest. Skin 2 Skin Organic blended right in much better than standard white sunscreen lotions. After using Skin 2 Skin Organic, I felt confident reapplying it to specific problem areas without a mirror because I was confident that it would blend well. At first, I was concerned-the lotion is several shades darker than my skin. However, it blends without flaw. (Think of it like hair dye-apply a different shade than the actual result.)
Skin 2 Skin Organic makes the skin feel smooth and creamy. This effect was particularly noticeable on my arms, which I used as initial test areas prior to applying the product to my face. This is presumably due to the presence of aloe vera (the product also made my skin feel cool and smooth), jojoba oil and white tea. Over-application of the product results in a chalky feel, however, so over-application can be detrimental and it isn’t as easy to wipe off as generic sunscreen.
It’s kind of a stigma to apply sunscreen in public on a cloudy day or at work, especially for a woman under thirty. However, the skin-toned color of the product and the high-end packaging design sells the product more as a skin crème than a sunscreen. I felt more comfortable applying Skin 2 Skin Organic in front of my peers.
Good for Green
This product comes in a recyclable bottle. It is an organic product and not tested on animals.
The suggested retail price for a tube of Skin 2 Skin Organic Anti-Photoaging SPF 30 is $68.00. While this may be reasonable for a high-end product, this is not a product most people could afford, especially during difficult economic times. Because of the aforementioned packaging positives for younger consumers, I’m sorry to see that this product is not priced more reasonably for younger consumers. It’s important for young women to protect their skin, and this is a great way to encourage them to do so.
If I were to purchase this product in the future, I would limit myself to using it every other day and only on the high-risk exposure areas-near the eyes, ears, cheeks. That said, this is definitely a beneficial ‘luxury item’ as it is organic and helpful in preventing skin damage.
High costs are likely due to the quality of the product, organic components, place of manufacture (made in the USA) and the recyclable bottle.
This would be a decent and thoughtful gift idea for a woman of any age.
