If you were watching ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ last night, you might have been one of many viewers that made use of their DVR when contestant 22036 wowed the judges with a real “flash dance”. According to TMZ, contestant 22036 had a wardrobe malfunction similar to those we’re used to seeing when it comes to stars like Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, and Lindsay Lohan. But the difference with her quick camera flash is that this missus wasn’t wearing britches on TV, and there were no blurs to cover her fashion faux pas. So how could ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ censors have missed her missing wardrobe item, and did contestant 22036 actually forget it, or is she trying to become famous for all the wrong reasons?
Obviously someone in the censoring department wasn’t doing their job, and from the photo on TMZ (which is censored), it looks like they might get fired, considering how obvious the contestant 22036’s flash is. There will probably be some viewers angry about this getting past the censors and making it on television (it’s Janet Jackson all over again), but at least judge and executive producer Nigel Lythgoe took the incident all in stride, stating that the show was meant to expose talent, but not in this way.
So did contestant 22036 forget to pack all of the clothing she needed for her ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ audition, or was this some sort of ill-though-out publicity stunt? I would definitely go with the latter, seeing as how bloomers or other undergarments with lots of coverage are just not something that a dancer would forget; it’s unprofessional, extremely distracting, and will definitely not get you any kind of job performing, unless you’re auditioning for a job at a strip club.
So contestant 22036, even if you did do a superb job dancing, your fifteen minutes will likely be up, because you’ve probably landed ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ in a bit of hot water, and a girl that can’t even get her wardrobe together probably doesn’t stand a chance of making it too far on the show. Still, I’m sure we haven’t seen the last of contestant 22036, and we’ll probably see a lot more of her when everyone on the web knows her name and the incident is all over the entertainment news shows. She might even get a call from Hugh Hefner’s new Girls Next Door with an offer she can’t refuse. Sadly, this might be what she was looking for all along, and, in a flash, she’s another girl with a big bank account for doing something stupid.
