It is very important to take care of yourself and your health. There are many things that you can do naturally without the use of medication. I am in my middle forties and am doing all I can to avoid taking certain medicines. Here are a few steps that I have taken to improve my health.
Last January, my doctor wanted to put me on cholesterol medication because my good cholesterol went down about 13 points in one year. I am one that does not like to be on medication if I don’t have to. Everyone knows the side effects that are attached to these medicines. Unfortunately, unless your doctor is homeopathic, he will be quick to put you on medication. Doctors have very little training in nutrition and natural supplements, so I went to a homeopathic pharmacist who sells all kinds of these supplements. He suggested taking fish oil pills because that will raise your good cholesterol. I take three a day for a total of 3000mg. He also suggested Cholestrice which is good for lowering the bad cholesterol. This is a mixture of red yeast rice and policosanol which are known to help cholesterol levels. I take two capsules a day of this. I also take two flaxseed oil pills a day. Flaxseed benefits almost every part of your body. Do some research on the benefits of flaxseed oil and see for your self.
Just because I am taking these supplements, doesn’t mean that I can eat anything I want. I am still very careful about what I put into my body. I eat mostly organic foods which are free of pesticides, preservatives and chemicals. I am very careful to eat a low fat diet. I buy the omega 3 organic eggs which actually lowers cholesterol and doctors have said that you can even eat one a day. Dairy and meat products should be organic. Stay away from processed boxed and canned foods which are very salty. I shop at Trader Joe’s and the Whole Foods Market. If I shop at a regular grocery store, I make sure to buy organic products. Diet plays such an important role in your health. If people would just eat properly, there would be less sicknesses and diseases.
Don’t forget exercise which is just as important. Get out and take a walk or do something that you enjoy outdoors. Just a few months ago I bought a basketball hoop for my back patio. I am out there every day after work playing and it’s great exercise. Exercise also lowers cholesterol and blood pressure levels.
We need to take care of the bodies that God gave us. He never meant for us to eat chemicals and preservatives. The Bible says in I Corinthians 6:19 & 20, “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.”
