There are so many things that I am thankful for this year, but these are the main ones that have come to the mind. The first thing that I am thankful for is having the opportunity to work for Associated Content. It is not just about writing articles and having them published. It is not just about bringing your writings to life and invoking feeling within them; it is about helping people. In this crazy, mixed-up universe that we live in, most people fall on extremely hard times. And it’s not easy to pick up the pieces, similar to picking yourself up while riding a horse. All that is need is some uplifting, self-helping advice written in an article by someone who has been there, been in that dark, dreary, gloomy place within their lives. This advice is also used to give back what was taken away; the ability to allow yourself to have a fresh, healthy and motivated start in order to keep progressing successfully within life.
With that being said, I am also thankful for being able to use the forum. When I started on the 20th of July, I never gave myself the chance to check it out. However, I found it to be resourceful thanks to a guide written by an individual on how to make money the right way. Jordan Matthews, if you are out there, I would like to thank you for the advice. I will continue to follow them as I go on this journey. Within the forum, I made a connection with someone who is a newbie. Yes, PhoenixRox,this means you. Sara Sichman and other people who commented on most of my articles, thank you ever so much. I cannot tell you how much it means to me. The connections you make are long-lasting and never forgotten. This also gives you a sign that there are people who appreciate you for your writing craft. Not only do you make a connection, but you also have the chance to read articles written by the person you connected with. Along with that comes the opportunity to give them feedback on their work, telling them what needs to be worked on, perfected and so on. This the first door that I have pushed my way into. I will keep pushing more doors in along the way.
Another thing that I am thankful for is spending time with my mother and making her happy. After all, you never know when that cold time comes; the time when the person you love close to your heart will go into the gates and enter the Kingdom. Back in 2005, my beloved grandmother went home into the kingdom; I don’t want to have that feeling again. The time that I spend with her is precious and just to watch her smile and beam with happiness makes me feel good.
Last but not least, I am thankful for getting the opportunity to watch a history go down within the books; the Inauguration of President Barack Obama. Out of all the other events that have happened before the eyes of millions and millions of people, this is one event that will never be forgotten, along with the tragic and sad passing of celebrities who have left their legacies of music, acting, dancing, commercial pitching and many other talents behind ( Farah Fawcett, Michael Jackson, Patrick Swayze, Billy Mays, etc). Aside from the Inauguration, the parade was what came to life in front of television screens and captivated viewers all over the country as well as overseas.
From the United States of America to Africa to the Middle East to Asia, people gathered in crowds around their televisions to watch this event and join in with the celebration. During the parade, you have noticed that there were people from all different walks of life participating and having a good time. There were Law Enforcement Officers ( police and firemen), a gay marching band, Native Americans of the Arapaho-Shoshone, Shoshone-Bannock, and Crow Nations, the Tuskegee Airmen, the Punahou High School band from Hawaii, and many others. Amid the freezing cold, the fun, action and festivities did not end.
In closing, 2009 has been an eye-opener to many events that have affected people. Whether they were happy, surprising, sad, funny or questioning, they will never be forgotten or left out of their minds. Have a Happy, Healthy and Safe Thanksgiving Everybody. I hope that all is well with each and every one of you.
