This turkey balloon craft is easy to make and you’re kids will love to personalize their own Thanksgiving turkeys. For this craft, you will need 2 regular red balloons, 1 oblong yellow balloon, masking tape, cardboard, scissors, paint and paint brushes.
Begin by blowing up one of the red balloons and tying it tight. This will be the turkey’s body. Next, blow up the yellow balloon about half way full so that about an inch of the front of the balloon is inflated. This will be the turkeys head and the inflated end will be the nose. Tie the other red balloon (still un-inflated) on the turkey’s nose to create its wattle.
Attach the body and head by placing a rubber band around the two ends of the balloons. Using a piece of cardboard, draw and cut out 2 feet for your turkey. Color them in with paint and allow them to dry. Once completely dry, use the masking tape to attach the feet to the bottom of the body. Use the paint and brushes to decorate the turkeys’ feathers.
Leaf turkeys are not only fun to make, but they are colorful and bring a little nature into your Thanksgiving crafts. To create a leaf turkey, you will need a large poster board, markers, glue and leaves.
Begin by going outdoors and collecting colorful fall leaves. You will need about 20 to 30 leaves, depending on the size of your poster board. Next, take a marker and draw the outline of a turkey on your poster board. Draw in the turkeys’ eyes, mouth and wattle.
Finish your leaf turkey off by gluing on the turkeys feathers, the leaves. This will make the turkey look festive and perfect for the Thanksgiving season. Cut out your turkey and hang him on the wall as a Thanksgiving decoration.
Kids will love creating their own paper turkeys using their hands as feathers. For this Thanksgiving craft, you will need construction paper, scissors, 1 oblong balloon glue and wiggly eyes and markers.
Begin by tracing your child’s hands on different colored pieces of construction paper. Use the scissors to cut out the hands. These will be the turkeys’ feathers.
To make the turkeys body, blow up the oblong balloon and tie the end. Glue the hands onto the back of the turkey in a fan-like order to create the turkeys’ feathers. Using a piece of orange construction paper, cut out 2 feet and a diamond shape for the turkey’s beak. Create a wattle out of red construction paper. Glue on these pieces to the turkey.
