You can say at least one thing about the Honda motorcycle company- they make every bike with great fit and finish, and impressive customer loyalty. The 2009 Honda Silverwing is the Honda scooter that most people walk right to when they walk into the dealership. It has a presence that while impressive, is not overwhelming. During the ride, the 2009 Honda Silverwing is as compliant and easy-to-handle as you would expect a Honda scooter to be, but doesn’t flash its 515-pound bulk at you. The 2009 Honda Silverwing is no whale. Instead, what you find is a Honda scooter that simply loves to be ridden, whether you destination is the office, corner market, or Aunt Betty’s place three states over. The 2009 Honda Silverwing is more than capable of highway speeds, thanks to its 582cc liquid-cooled engine, but you just might find yourself wanting to do more of your Honda scooter cruising on the great American back roads, anyway. The 2009 Honda Silverwing inspires not only the ride, but a slightly more casual pace to that ride.
The 2009 Honda Silverwing scooter is powered by a 582cc liquid-cooled four stroke parallel twin engine that features Dual overhead Camshafts, four valves per cylinder, and computer controlled ignition with electronic advance. Four-hole injectors push air into the combustion chamber. The transmission is of the automatic variety, and drives the rear wheel with a belt. The suspension in the front of the 2009 Honda Silverwing is a 41 mm hydraulic fork that offers the rider a plush 4.7 inches of travel, while in the back, a swingarm with dual hydraulic shocks and five position spring preload adjustability provides 4.5 inches of travel. This helps the 2009 Honda Silverwing to be a great ride not only over the roads around town, but gives it the ability to traverse highways with equal aplomb. Braking is handled by a single front 276mm disc with a three-piston caliper, and a 240mm disc on the rear wheel with a twin piston caliper. Unusual for scooters, the 2009 Honda Silverwing is available with ABS brakes
Unfortunately, the 2009 Honda Silverwing is available in just one color, Candy dark red. It does look good, though, but for the price, $8,499 the least that Honda could do is have at least one other color option. Alas, that won’t likely take place until Scooters take a greater market share in the U.S. than they do now. The red does look good, though, and it certainly helps that your neighbor isn’t likely to have a 2009 Honda Silverwing parked in his garage.
