The Office season premiere is just one of the big season premieres for fall 2009 tonight. Yet The Office season premiere for fall 2009 may not be the big headliner of the night – mainly for how busy tonight will be. Tonight’s Office season premiere is just one part of NBC’s big Thursday night comedy lineup, featuring SNL Weekend Update, Parks and Recreations and Community, while FOX premieres Bones and Fringe, and CBS has Survivor. However, The Office season premiere for fall 2009 is still the top event of the night for Dunder Mifflin fanatics – and is just the beginning of a major year in The Office.
Tonight’s sixth season premiere of The Office centers around office gossip, and Michael Scott’s desperation to find some. But the major Office gossip heading into the fall 2009 season premiere centers, as always, around Jim and Pam – who would like to keep their new bun in the oven a secret, but will likely fail.
Though tonight is the season premiere episode, the major date that Office fans are looking forward to is October 8. In just three weeks, the show will air a one hour, two-part episode about the wedding of Jim and Pam, which is set in Niagara Falls. And in February, their baby will be born sometime during sweeps.
But before those major “Jam” milestones can come to pass, fans have to get through the fall 2009 season premiere, and the next two weeks. So other characters like Michael, Dwight, Andy, Ryan, new receptionist Erin and others will have some time in the spotlight before Jim and Pam walk down the aisle.
The Office season premiere is just one of the major television events tonight, in what has become the busiest night on television. NBC alone is dominating the comedy block tonight, as Saturday Night Live has its first Weekend Update special, Parks and Recreations debuts its first full season, and Community premieres after being hyped as one of the best new comedies this year.
Not only that, FOX brings back Bones and Fringe with big premieres, and CBS starts the new season of Survivor. And all this comes before 30 Rock returns to NBC, before CSI resumes on CBS, and before ABC debuts Flashforward next week and brings Grey’s Anatomy back.
Thursday night is going to be a hard night for many TV viewers, and will be a hard night for The Office to make some noise. But The Office has beat the odds before, and doesn’t really need high ratings anymore to be valuable to NBC.
The Office season premiere for fall 2009 reopens Dunder Mifflin at 9 p.m. EST, three days before the show hopes to take some major awards at the 2009 Emmys.
