Some guys love to dance. Most don’t. The reason is simple; guys are uncomfortable doing things with their bodies that don’t have structure or some bit of violence, as in sports. Also, in the beginning, dancing is awkward and is generally done in public. Finally, dancing has some degree of artistic interpretation that requires letting go of inhibitions in ways that could likely wind up as an embarrassing experience. In spite of all that, there are reasons that guys should learn anyway. Below are the top ten reasons a guy should learn to dance. Please keep in mind that we’re not talking about the stuff you see in movies. We’re talking simple dance steps a guy can do with fast music, basic movements for slow dances, and a few couples steps for the ballroom stuff.
– It’ll make dating more fun. The thing about dating is there is likely to come a time when you’re at a place where dancing would be the logical thing to do; whether at a night club, a party or even in your own living room. If there is music playing, your date is likely to want you to dance with her. If you know how, you’ll likely have fun, if not, you’ll either refuse to dance with her, or make an awkward situation even more embarrassing by trying.
– It’ll come in handy at wedding receptions. Virtually every wedding reception has dancing. If you know how to dance or at least feel reasonably comfortable out on the dance floor, you’ll have a good time and make your family proud. If not, you’ll hide in the shadows and likely drink too much.
– It’ll make his girl happy. Most girls like to dance; maybe not the same kind of dancing, but something. So, once a guy manages to land a girl, it will serve him well to know how to do the kind of dancing she likes. This will give the couple something fun to do together when they go out.
– It’ll reduce awkward moments. Let’s face it, not knowing how to do something a girl wants to do with you, makes for awkward situations. Learn how to dance and you’ll erase some of these forever.
– It’ll make him feel more manly. One little known fact among non-dancing males, is that knowing what you’re doing out there on the dance floor, makes a man feel manly. There is just something about leading a lady about the dance floor, with finesse and flourish, that causes a man to feel romantic and suave. Debonair, if you will.
– It’ll give him something to do. Sometimes guys get bored. Dancing is something to do. Heading over to a night club or swing or country dance place armed with the knowledge of dance, gives a guy a something to do that is fun, good for him and sometimes even a little exciting.
– It’ll help him stay in shape. You don’t hear a lot about it, but dancing is actually pretty good exercise. Of course it depends on the kind of dancing you do and how much of it, but the bottom line is, any kind of dancing is more exercise than sitting at home on the couch.
– It’ll make other women wish he were theirs. If a man learns to lead a partner around properly on the dance floor and does a good job of it, he’ll make his partner feel like Cinderella at the ball, and all the other ladies wish they were his partner instead.
– It’ll give him confidence to try other things. Learning how to dance, and doing it well, builds confidence in a man’s abilities. It’s just like anything else. Once you see you can do something, and do it well, you start to feel like maybe you could do other things well too that maybe you hadn’t thought of before.
– It’ll pay off later. Dancing is something that stays with you forever. If you learn to dance while still young, those skills will still be there years later when you’re at your own wedding reception, or when it’s your daughter getting married, or even your grandkids. It’s like riding a bicycle. Once you get it down, it’s yours forever.
This list of the top ten reasons a guy should learn to dance is for all those guys out there who are still resisting. Hopefully you’ll find at least one reason here to convince you that learning to dance will be in your best interest and will serve you well for the rest of your life. Good luck.
