It is important to remember to help the less fortunate. Even a little money can go a long way to help charities in Wisconsin. If you don’t have money to give this year, spare a few hours of your time to volunteer. Here are some organizations that will appreciate the help.
Audubon Nature Center – The Schlitz Audubon Center is a big beautiful piece of land along the Lake Michigan shore. The center has numerous nature exhibits and programs that are free to the southeastern Wisconsin community. The Schlitz Audubon website reports that the center teaches over 35,000 children each year. In order to be able to provide this type of free education, the Audubon Center needs donations.
Unable to give money this year? No problem…..
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southeastern Wisconsin – Become a “Big”. Work with the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization to become a “Big” brother or sister to a child that needs a positive role model. You can attend sporting events together; go to movies, or just talk. It’s an easy way to make a positive impact in a child’s life.
Boys and Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee – Tutor at your local Boy and Girls Club. There is always room for more tutors to help school age children. It only takes a few hours a week to provide a child with educational assistance that will last them a lifetime.
Children’s Hospital of WI -Project Ujima’s Thanksgiving Dinner Helper. Every year the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin holds a Thanksgiving dinner for sick children and their families who have to spend their holidays in the hospital. Help set up the event and provide gifts to families.
St Francis Children’s Center – Wine & Chocolate Tasting Volunteer. Help St. Francis Children’s Hospital at this fundraising event. Volunteers are needed for set up and clean up.
Unable to provide money or time? You can still help in other ways….
Bottomless Closet – Clothing Donator. Bottomless Closet provides business clothes to less fortunate women. The clothes help these women go out into the workforce with a positive attitude. It allows them to seek employment to become self sufficient.
All of these organizations will take donations, time or whatever you have to offer. Please take time to help the less fortunate in Wisconsin this year.
