The Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum: Located at 3075 Captiva Road, Sanibel Island, Florida. 888-679-6450. This museum is a must see for any shell collector. Walk through and check out all the different types of seashells. The museum offers educational programs to educate about shells. Their are many different exhibits on shells and shell life. Take some time and learn about the different shells that frequent Sanibel Island, such as sharks eye, angel wing and the Atlantic calico scallop. You can also purchase sea shells and other items from the museum store. The museum is open daily from 10am-5pm. Call in advance for events and educational programs dates and times.
Sanibel Lighthouse Beach: Located at One Periwinkle Way, Sanibel Island, Florida 239-472-6397. This breathtaking lighthouse has been a landmark since 1884. It is the most frequently photographed site on Sanibel Island. The lighthouse sits on a wildlife refuge. Don’t forget your binoculars and camera, you might spot some wildlife. Their is also access to the beach from the lighthouse. You can also enjoy a hike and a picnic on the boardwalk. The boardwalk is also wheelchair accessible. You can view the lighthouse at any day or time.
